  1. could you tell me the difference? Not sure I could feed it to the dog though, still remember the stench of me grandad cooking the stuff!!
  2. Good tip dwalin, but not too hot. About body heat only, and wrapped in a towel or the "old jumper" mentioned by poacher. I am disappointed by the number of people who post about barking whining puppies. Why are they not prepared for the new arrival? A pup who has after all, been on the earth only 8 to 10 weeks, and always slept with the warmth and company of it's litter mates, is left in a box in a shed or cold kitchen, and expected to be quiet and content. There has been no end of good advice given on here, and easy to access, but still the same questions keep coming. why dont you
  3. She's sleeping in the crate well now on her own fine, its just leaving her on her own thats a problem now. Any tips on that other than leave her in the back yard and let her wine. She has a kennel she goes in but never for long. I'm hoping for a day of heavy rain as she doesnt seem the type to stand in the rain at the back door whinging.
  4. Last two nights she's been in the crate in the living room with me on the sofa bed and she's not made a sound. I've woken up and put her out to pee and she's gone straight back to sleep. I'll give it a week like this and then try sleeping upstairs before building up to her sleeping in kennel outside. Today she got left in the back yard for a few hours and had obviously had a paddy at first (marks on door) but she was asleep in the sun when I got back.
  5. She's been wormed and shouldnt be cold, left litter at 9 weeks. She doesnt cry all night just at when she forst goes to bed then 2ish and then 5.30ish. I go downstairs and put her out then put her back in her bed, sometimes she pees or has a crap sometimes she doesnt, sometimes she's already been on the floor. She doesnt seem that starving when I feed her in the morning. She doesnt demand attention although she is more clingy than terriers or labs I'm used to. She's out in the back yard now on her own lay in the sun. She's got a kennal outside which she has sat in a bit during the day. I was
  6. Not had a decent nights sleep in 2 weeks and neigbours will start to get pissed off soon. She's got her bed in the kitchen. She's nearly 11 weeks old now. Last night I went downstairs and sprayed her with water whenever she woke me up, that worked a bit but did leave her pretty pissed off by morning.
  7. CRUFTS AS BEST IN SHOW GOES TO DEFORMED RAT
  8. Yeah but these insurance companies are slippery fuckers, tried tesco quote as cross breed medium size and lurcher and its the same price.
  9. Not sure about the cross breed/lucher thing. She is a lucher x lurcher but is that more lurcher than a first cross?
  10. Not had a lurcher before, can anyone recommend insurance? Some have a lurcher category and some dont are any significantly better or not? Here's the new addition:
  11. Something like these should be adaptable: http://www.lumicycle.com/pages/default.aspx http://www.ayuplights.co.uk/content/view/31/99/
  12. Thats what I thought really, thanks... I just need to convince the girlfriend now......actually maybe the puppy could sleep inside and the girlfrie.....
  13. Getting pup in a few weeks (will be 9 weeks old) should I get it to sleep outside in the kennel from the start or get it settled in the house and then slowly get it to sleep in kennel? I am sure the dog will sleep outside so will I be storing up problems for later if I dont do it straight away? It will be coming from a breeder who has it outside at the moment but obviously with a few mates to keep it warm. My only expriance of this before was putting a puppy in the kennel with the old lab who helped it settle but this one will be on its own.
  14. Before I stopped due to injury I used to do a lot of competitive cycling. What you talk about is pretty much the same as I would treat myself before a race. A maltodexdrin drink in the hour before a race and during as well as after. Protein after is also important to rebuild damaged cells (the basis of training). The difficulties lie in getting the dosage right, too much energy powder (maltowhatsit) during excercise can have drastic effects on the digestive system which arent pleasant in lycra and all individuals are different, some can cope with higher than others, problems with dehydration c
  15. is it open access land? I suppose it doesnt matter if the dogs are worrying sheep anyway. But if its open access are you allowed to have dogs off the lead as long as they are not worrying sheep?
  16. Thats shit that is if the farmer was watching he should have come and had a word. I would have waded in whether he was backed up or not, ensured I got a damn good kicking or was threatened witht the guns and would then push for all the charges I could get.
  17. you'd be taking your life in your hands if you start eating umbellifer plants, Hogweed is a bienniel/perrennial so wont die back completely in winter
