what do you have cocks or hens? you should roast hens and first year cock birds but casserole older birds. pheasants are hung by the neck for 3-10 days dependant on how strong you like the flavour, you can add 2 days or so in the winter and minus a few in the summer. if flys are a problem then dust them with pepper and put in a muslin sack. partidge for 3-4 days. pidgeon 24hrs. snipe 3-4 days. woodcock 3 days. ducks and geese are hung by the feet. ducks for upto 24 hrs geese upto 48 hrs.

sporting shooter did i say you can dial a scope back 10 yards? no! would any responsible shooter check zero there rifle with livestock 10 yards away? no they wouldn't! kiwi if you say you knew it was zero'd and just an excuse to loose off a round then fine. not a bad little shot there mate. but could you shoot like that under pressure?

i can see eveyones point, ive been shooting for almost 25 years, if it was my beast id say it wasnt a safe shot but if it was my eye behind the scope on my beat then im sure id feel confident in my own ability to asses the dangers and take it down. HOWEVER you did mention CHECK zero. so not a safe shot in my eye son. very nice shot by the way.

dude where abouts in notts you from? im from leicester do a little trout fishing myself. prawns are a killer bait, if this is too expensive then save the bone or carcase from sunday lunch, lob it in a keep net and set it out in a river over night with 2 sticks, you should have some nice big signal crayfish. absolute dynamite bait. if not then a nice big lob worm would do the trick but if you intend a night time session id get a syringe and fill the little buggers full of air to make them float then fish them on the surface! if that dont catch you enough to fill your freezer nothing will.

dont buy a scope from fleebay mate, plenty of nice scopes about for the £100 mark.

well done mate, good work. i picked up 2 new jills this week took them out today........nothing! did 3 good sets first was 18 holes secong was 11 and the third was 13 but all very close together, worst thing about the last set was actually seeing a rabbit run into the set when i was about 10 yards away. still nothing. got back and dressed a few birds id shot last friday, gave the hearts to the new jills and one of them wouldnt even take it! however it munched on its dry food straight away. think that one's getting a new home soon.

was having the same problem a week ago, went round cold calling got knocked back so many times "land let out to a shoot" was the common problem, i came across some stables and asked in there for some ferreting land(as we know rabbit holes an horses legs dont mix well), they had no problems with rabbits but the girls father was a big dairy farmer gave me his number and now ive got more land than i know what to do with, only wanted some rabbiting and he put me onto someone he knows when he asked if i shoot as well now its opend the door to spring pidgeon shooting too. try a different angle mate

Hello everyone, just joined the forum and this is my first post so please be gentle as im not sure on the eticate just yet. i live in the leicester area and just re-started my hunting life style. forgoten how expensive things can get when you need to start again. Managed to pick up a HW100 .22 T/H for a very good price £300 with scope and tuff case. Ive got myself a couple of ferrets and some cheap nets (the standard green nylon ones) i used to use a much thicker net when i was younger, more like really thick sewing wool.
