On my permisions around my house I've seen none for a few months now but on a new permision a couple of miles up the road the odd one I've seen is in a chronic state with it, I've only shot two up there but both had the worst mixi ive ever seen, their heads looked like they'd been decomposing for a couple of weeks, I was glad to be of service to them

I know nothing about deer stalking but would have thought it irrisponsible to take the shot knowing full well that a second deer was behind the initial target deer, i am happy to stand corrected if i'm wrong . It was notable in the video clips that as I would of expected mostly the second hit deer was not a clean kill, how would the examiners on a DSQ view this?

I bought my first snares from David and must say he is a pleasure to deal with, i'd still use him but make my own now

MMM, a pretty conclusive answer then taking an over view of all the replys thanks all

Just out of curiosity for your bunny bashing what do you prefer, bolt action or semi auto and why. I can see the obvious points I.E for the S/A quick shot sucsession but against it the possibility of jams ( do they happen much? ), but what else is there to be taken into account, and please state what you use and if you are tempted to change. Okay I know some of you are going to bang your heads against the wall but i returned home with the Escort, I have listened to your opinnions, not only on this thread but others and other forums too, and i also know a couple of lads that have owned them, I have tried to take a balanced view of everyones opinnion and would like to thank you all for your input especially niloticus1 who went out of his way to be helpful. The main reason s for my decision are the warranty (I can here some of you now muttering I'll be using it ) but most importantly the gun seemed to just drop into my shoulder

thanks for the replys so far, does anyone have any experiance of the baikals and winchesters please. all the models i have mentioned are available to me for my max budget of just over £3oo, so im sure there is better out there but i simply cant afford them hence the specific guns asked about. cheers Adam

Im looking for a semi auto 12 bore multi choke and am tempted tempted by the hatsan but would like a few views on a couple of other options that ive not heard so many opinions on the remmington 1100 / 1187, the winchester 1400 / 1500, the baikal as second hand options, i have them all in a reasonable traveling distance from me. I know some will say stay clear of the hatsan but am just looking for info on the above guns. Thanks

Before I start I know that some slate these guns, I have done searches and read all the views but can anyone tell me please what are the differances between the newer and older models and is there any improvement in reliability on the newer models. cheers Adam

Thanks for your replys, my budget is only £100 or so therefore im very limited and that rules out semi auto (it would have been a strong contender otherwise). The Baikal sxs is a contender, i used to own one around 25 years ago, it was rugged and reliable and thats all i need but it seems from most of what i've read previously that im more likley to shoot better with an o/u or at least find it easier to improve with one or have I misunderstood. Cheers Adam

I am just waiting on my cert coming through the post then will be off to buy my shotgun, i,m on a very limited budget so was wondering why most of you seem to prefer o/u to sxs as you all know i can get an sxs for less leaving more for decoys etc, im thinking probably baikal for their robustness, I know about more percived recoil with sxs but would appreciate any other views. I dont care about pretty, its just for a hide gun and mooching. Thanks Adam

Cheers Buster are you saying i should put it up

I have just sent off my SGC application and was just wondering how long I can expect it to take to go through, I come under North Yorks so what were your experiances with this force or can it just be a lottery depending on how busy they are at the time. According to their site my FEO's name is Lynda Hymer, how have people found her (not that i've got anything to hide ) cheers, Adam

Carrying shot rabbits? and first succesful outing
adam1 replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I carry loops of bailer band ( cut a 14 inch length, double it then knot it to make a loop ) put the back legs through the loop twist it and legs back through again then the end through the back legs and that holds them, I can get 4 or 5 on one bit, then I put the button of my army surplus jacket pocket through the loop and do it up and away i go, they do bang on your legs a bit but as long as your not walking miles its bearable. It also leaves your hands free. Having said that tonight I chucked mine in a hedgerow and walked back for the car -
What options are there to mount a bipod and sling to my Theoben mk11, i am aware of doctor bobs clamp (does this need to be removed to take the bottle off), is the front of the stock strong enough to take a stud? would this be unbalanced in use and will this be too short a space between front and back swivels for a sling? Is there any other options. cheers Adam

I've bought one of the Tesco AA torches and am after making a scope mount for it, i know this has been covered before but i cant find the posts. i've got a 22mm pipe clamp (8 pence from the local DIY shop) it fits the torch a treat but unfortunatley there is no similar products on the market for the 1 inch scope tube so what concoctions have you lot come up with appart from putting your hand in your pockets Adam
