Really ? I thought it was pretty explicit Good reason for carrying a knife may be shown by occupation as a farmer, estate manager, recreational stalker, gameshooter, angler or anyone else who has reasonable grounds for expecting to need a knife whilst pursuing a lawful activity. Carrying a knife in public must be in connection with the activity for which it is needed; going into a shop with a knife in your pocket if you are returning from or going to a place where you farm, fish or shoot etc. would constitute good reason I got that bit. But, by "Lawful activity"

Thanks. I'll just have to make sure I find a knife with 3" or less blade. I'm short of insurance though. And the permission letters. If I have no permission, should I leave the knife at home?

Thanks for the replies. I've just read through that, but I'm still unsure on where I stand. For example, if I'm on "public" land, and carrying a knife with a guthook, with the ferrets, does that mean I'm likely to get done? And would that mean, I can't let the ferrets go on public land (down warrens etc.) and take rabbits? From what I can tell, it's not classed as poaching as they're classed as vermin? Thanks.

Hi all, I've searched, and can't find anything about this. So apologies if I've missed it somewhere, or I'm overlooking the blatently obvious. What I'm curious about is, when me and a mate go out with the ferrets. Now, I know it's good practise to gut the rabbit on site, but I'm wondering, if I get caught by the authorities, and get caught with a knife, what is likely to happen? I've not bought a knife just yet, but I'm looking for one, a folding one, with a gut hook on, and I'm wondering if I say what it's for, what will come of it? Thanks.

Grrr... Good luck with sale mate. I've just had to blow a wad on a new washing machine, so I'm out

Hi, Can you get me some more photos of the rifles please mate? And how "tatty" is the Cometa? If you can get me some photos up, I can look for meself. Cheers.

Hi mate. Have you got any more pictures of both guns? Cheers.

Cheers for the replies. I'll go and have a look around over the next few nights. We did go pretty early today, but I think the fog was a major hindrance, couldn't see 10 foot in front at some points

Hi all, Been out today with a mate and his pair of ferrets, been to two different locations looking for rabbits and warrens, but had no luck whatsoever. Tried two different places where I have seen rabbits before, but not found anything. Can anyone give me some advice as to where I may find some better luck? Been over Billinge Hill and near the old Billinge Brickworks. I'm in Wigan. Cheers

Weihrauch HW77 You can probably pick one up for under £200, which leaves £100 to buy anything else, like scope, bag, pellets...
-
Hi, Would I need a 1/2" UNF for a Weihrauch HW77? Thanks
-
Thanks for your reply. I'll look into the AA pellets. They seem to command quite a high price tag, so there must be something good . I'll also look into the FTT's aswell. I'm curious as to if/how the power output varies dependant on the pellets used, can you shed any light on this? Thanks again.

Hi all, As you may have seen, I am currently the owner of a Weihrauch HW77. Just a couple of questions really. > What is the power output from stock (.22)? I've seen in a magazine it was 11.5 ft/lb, but I'm interested in how accurate this may be. > What are the best pellets in your experience? I just bought some Wasp pellets to get the scope set up, but I've seen some Bisley Pest Control, which weigh in at 18.2 grains according to the booklet. From the marketing spiel, they sound like they could put most vermin out of it's misery straightaway, but I'm just curious as to peo

Hi, I don't know if it is of any use, but an army surplus store I've visited on a couple of occasions sells mincers. http://www.feltons-uk.com/bank.htm About half way down the page. I can't comment on the quality of these, but I've bought boots and other bits and pieces from here before, and have been good quality. May be worth a look. Cheers.

No problem. Thanks for your time anyway.

Thanks for your advice SS. I would myself, one day, like to have a crack at deer, but it's not something that is an immediate concern. I'll give the FEO a ring in the next few days, and ask for some more info Thanks again

Hi, I'm from Wigan area. Been looking for some permission. That farm looks familiar, but can't for the life of me place it. Not in the WN5 area is it by any chance? And do you think he'd let me on now and again? Thanks.

There is a gun club in Roby Mill, which isn't all that far from St Helens. I've been looking at going for a while now, but something always seems to come up on the Saturdays I have free.

Thanks again everyone Basically, I'm considering investing some cash shortly, and was considering looking at a plot of land, nothing huge, maybe an acre or three. Was going to look into the land buying first, then put in for the FAC. Chances are, the only animals I would come across where I live are rats, rabbits, and the odd fox. So possibly look for a .243? I haven't looked into the options yet, I'm just playing with a HW77 at the moment, but I'm hoping to upgrade at some point. As for the doctors report, do you think it would stand him in good stead that he hasn't repeated his pre

Thanks for your advice. I will mention this, see where it gets him. Just on a related note - If I own a plot of land, and I want to use it for shooting, can I put down on the form I will be using the guns on my own land, for example shooting rats and rabbits, would they pass me for a FAC? Thanks again.

Hi all, I have read the FAC license sticky, but it doesn't answer the question(s) I need answering. I hope someone can help me. A friend of mine is looking to apply for an FAC license, he's interested in (eventually) being able to take on deers etc, and do the expo's to Scotland and suchlike, all in the name of personal interest. He has had a bit more experience than me with air rifles (I've had use of them for about 6/7 years now), and as I said he's looking into applying for the FAC license. He doesn't have any criminal convictions. However, he has, for the last two years, been p

http://www.airgun-hunting.co.uk/types.htm Check the above site, and make your mind up depending on what you want from the rifle. Of course, there will be others who come along to voice their opinions also, so it's worth listening to all opinions, and then make your own decision.

Hi, What I was meaning, was that the power output of the CO2 rifle will drop as the canister empties. That was all.
