  1. You clicked the Lo-Fi version at the bottom of the page?
  2. I wouldn't say that, as I already mentioned I've done meself a thick 'un with no-one to blame but myself more than once. I did end up in the middle of the road when some numpty pulled off the kerb and clipped me, then proceeded to drive off. Just have to be as careful as you can, you're the must vulnerable person on the road
  3. I'm gonna say I don't really like Peter Kay. Freddie Starr and Chubby Brown, I find that the acts don't vary much. I do like Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Lee Evans. Jim Jeffries is pretty good too. Bernand Manning was a legend.
  4. vote of confidence there! As has been said, you can be as good on a bike as you like, but it isn't gonna stop Dolly Daydream on the school run in her Chelsea Tractor pulling out on you whilst she does her mascara is it? Aye, four wheels and a little bit harder to tip
  5. In theory, but considering the amount of roadworks on there that force speed limits... There usually is, but aren't Beretta, a well known manufacturing company, behind Stoeger air guns, which are quite cheap? I imagine it's like CJ says, the quality of components. Same with almost everything, cheap chinese motorcycles are usually just as good as the Jap versions, but are built down to a price with cheaper components. I know my chinese bike has a tendency to rust a lot
  6. General concensus seems to be you go round the local landowners and drop permission letters off for them to sign. There's some permission letters on site, just search for them as I can't remember where. Cheers.
  7. Ah right, no problem. I don't know much about anything outside my local area, sorry about that. All the best
  8. Where are you? Not local to Myerscough are you? They do a lot of full time courses to do with the countryside aswell, I was just looking at the short courses as I can't tie to a long term commitment.
  9. My outlook is that, unless it's something I really want, I'll just wait until one comes up second hand. I paid less than half of it's new price, got pellets, scope and bag with it. Twas a Weihrauch HW77K, and I like this one much more than the old Cometa or Webley I had. Even if it feels a little heavy at times.
  10. Plastic rats are top fun, but christ I wouldn't like to try parking them on a rough estate. On it's roof in no time Quite fancy a Kitten if I can find one to mess about with though.
  11. You want to try sitting in the back going flat out in one oh its all coming back now You wanna try sitting in ours - When it rains, it's like a fishtank what you got We have a Y reg Rialto that hasn't seen the road for 3 years - The mrs spent a load on it, I spent about £1000 having a new engine clutch etc. put in because the old un had no compression, which turned out to be someone had crossthreaded the spark plug It'll pass an MOT once we've sorted the dodgy earthing out methinks, but it's the cause of the recession, that bloody thing

  13. Hi, I only have use of a motorbike for the moment, a 125 very similar to the XR125's funnily enough. I'd bear in mind, it doesn't matter how safe you are, it's sometimes others. I've come off on more than one occasion due to my lack of judgement when I was younger and on bikes a bit quicker than this one, but year before last I was hit front on by someone not paying attention when coming down a narrow road. Just food for thought mind. Answer with insurance is to shop around - I had a 125LC at 17, and the insurance on that was about £450TPFT. Not really worth going fully comp in my opi
  14. I know it's not a wildlife degree, but a college pretty local to me, Myerscough has a lot of outdoorsy type courses, from gamekeeping, making warrens, looking after lambs and cattle etc. to tree work, landscaping, tractor maintenance etc. http://www.myerscough.ac.uk/Pages/Short_Co...Courses-Leisure I'm quite fancying the Beekeeping
  15. Hi, Wouldn't be looking at spending more than a couple of grand if/when it comes to it. Economy, anything over 35 would be decent I suppose. Main limits for me are the engine size which is due to the insurance crippling at 21. Fancy the idea of a Landy, but the engine size is the down side. Maybe I'd be better off waiting for a couple years NCB. Don't worry about it too much, was only a curiousity question. Cheers for the other replies all.
  16. Hi all, Looking for opinions on which 4x4 would be best suited to my circumstances. I would need something that is a smallish engine (insurance and age purposes), need to carry 5 people (me, mrs, 3 kids), be reliable, and not too thirsty, although I know I'm looking for pretty much a lost cause with that one I'm not looking to buy one, I'm just wondering what people's views/opinions are? I know the Vitara's are smallish engines, but a friend who has one reckons they can be quite thirsty. I went in a Landy a few years ago, and there was 6 of us in that, it had the bench seats
  17. Just to say, one of the links which points to the River Cottage site doesn't work now, this one should do: http://community.rivercottage.net/users/De...c/topic_id:5270 Cheers EDIT> Also, this one is how to joint a rabbit: http://community.rivercottage.net/users/De...c/topic_id:9173
  18. In all honesty, I would probably be looking around the £50-60 mark. I don't want something exceptional. Just to replace the 4 x 32 I have now. Only gonna be used with a HW77, just fancy trying a different type of scope. I've seen the BSA optics, for about £30-40, so may consider one of them instead.
  19. Hi all, I'm curious as to what experience people have had with Jager scopes? I've noticed these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=009 And was wondering what the craic is, whether they're fake, any good, etc. as I have a Nikko Sterling 4 x 32 at the moment, and was considering trying a different type of scope. Cheers.
  20. No problem, thanks. I didn't want to take on a huge amount of land, which is why I was only looking for a smallish plot. If it's likely to be fruitless for anything other than a load of acreage, I'll probably just buy a small plot to use the air rifle etc. on, and look into joining a gun club. That way, it won't bother me too much if I get the FAC purely for the club, and then try and get the land put on the ticket, and it's declined. Thanks for your reply also Deker, I'm in Lancashire, so land is more of a premium in the area I am in, most of it's been used for half built housing
  21. Ah, don't think I'll be looking for a plot that big TBH. Probably be looking for less than 10 acres if I'm honest. Do you think I'll struggle getting even a 22 rim or centrefire on a plot of say, 3-5 acres? It's likely to be surrounded by woodland. Thanks.
  22. Thanks for the advice all. I shall keep an eye on what comes up in future. What do you think the minimum size of land is I could get, in order to apply for what calibre on the FAC, and I'm assuming there will obviously have to be some quarry that will need an FAC rated rifle, so will have to be a bit bigger than rabbits etc? Thanks.
  23. I've nothing in mind at the moment, but I'm keeping an eye on land auctions TBH. Oop north, it doesn't seem to bring much for land. So was considering tying some money up in land if I find the right spot. Obviously it would need to be suitable for the reason I applied for, so calibre etc. is unknown as yet, but I wouldn't buying a plot if I could to use it for this reason.
  24. Hi all, Had a quick search, but couldn't see anything on here regarding it. What it is, I'm wondering whether or not it was bad etiquette to buy a plot, then put it down for permission for the FAC? And would I need to secure the land with fences, etc. or would it not matter as long as the boundaries were clearly marked? Cheers.
