The sheds I'm talking about. 1. is 20x10, used to store wooden items, no food, feed or anything like that. 2. The other shed is about 10x10 used for wooden items. -- The bait I've been using is Tomcat blocks. The sheds are no where near homes, livestock or children. It's not public land but my own dogs are often in the field so I don't want to leave any poison out of a bait box. I've placed the bait boxes in several different locations, including once outside the rats burrow(and a lot of poison was taken). The 4kg was gone within 3 days. they ate through a new c

Just out of curiosity do your set easy? Mine that are the same but blue where yours are yellow, often go off when you think they are set due to them being so sensative, are yours the same?

I don't think terriers would be any good, as where I think their nesting is extreamly close to a main road, so I think it would end up with more dead terriers than rats. With sticky boards would I have to kill them or would they be dead?

I think I'm going to try spreading peanut butter over the poison blocks, and see if that has any effect.

Hello. I've been posioning rats and mice in a couple of sheds we have for a few months. They once ate a 4kg tub of rat posion in a week. However now the bait boxes are not being touched. I leave them for a week check again and they've not been touched. Any ideas how I can make them take the posion? I know theres rats and mice in the sheds as I saw one, and we have droppings. Thanks.

Hi. I used these traps when I had mice, and there brillient, I had a lot of fails with an old wooden style, but these gave 100% catch rate(I only had 3 mice, but every trap caught, no misses). Very powerful traps and they are very sensative, I would highly recommend. Also the bait had not been even slightly touched so it must of killed the second they whent near. Although saying all this, I didn't have many mice. Mine were blue where yours are yellow, maybe a newer model?

urm I'm not sure exactly what your asking, but just set one side and then the other afterwards, then put the trap in the hole. I've never been caught by one...yet :glare:

I bought some import ones.(the website said Talpex) There AWFUL. Every time I've tried to use them, the triggers been gone off but the claws never closed, completely jammed. Total junk and a waste of money.

No. I meant so anyone could login and have their own private database accessible only to themselves via the web. -

You would be best to make a website that did this, with user logins, then the data stored on the web.(private or public) -
Placed the trap again.........bait gone, no mouse. Was using Mars, going to get peanut butter for tonight. Also ordered 4 traps off Ebay.

Trapping Voles (Field Mice)
glass22 replied to Steve Albano's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Do bank voles(uk), cause much of a problem? I have seen one around my field, I choose to leave it alone and have never known a problem with it, it seemed to have very poor eye sight. I walked right up to it and it did not seem to notice, I put a little soil on it and it started screaming at me. -
Personally I think they should be made illegal....at least if they worked. It's not fair to repell any animal thats simply going to move next door.

One mouse...............DEAD!

Yeah I know, I'm just being optimistic that there is just one. I have a lot of poison that I use for rats at my fields. I'm just concerned they will die and well......stink for the next 6 months. I find it really bizarre that there are so few droppings, around the food they have been eating just 2 droppings.

Hello. I whent into my attic yesterday where some dog food is stored to find, some has been eaten and there's a couple of droppings(mice). I'm not really sure how many I have, I'm hoping just one seeing as there are so few droppings. I've removed all the food from the attic and placed an old style snap trap I had laying around, So I set it with some choclate but whent up today and the bait is gone, without the trap going off! I took the trap down and looked at fine tuning it, but it already looks sensative. So two questions: 1. Is there anything I can do to make sure th

Can anyone recommend a good place for these traps? I bought a couple of Talpex style traps(not the brand) and they have been awful, they jam everytime.

Hello. I have been trapping moles on my 2 acre field for about 4 months. I have caught 13, in 2 acres The problem is. I get them all. No new holes for a week..............then they're back(well at least a new one)! I just don't get where they are coming from, the fields surrounded by, a huge concreted yard(about 3 acres), a main road and a river(I know they can swim). Do they regularly swim? I mean I could understand the odd one, but every time I get rid, a new ones there. Any advice? or do I need to just continue to trap as soon as a new one appears. Tha

It's an out building type workshop in a field, I'm sure the rats are not living in the out building so If they have stored it, it will be down in the nests outside. Which should be safe.. Just ordered another 4kgs. I was really shocked when I saw they managed to make a sizable hole in the tub and then actually take all 4kgs.
-
Well heres the shocking thing... I bought a 4kgs tub, the rats then ate through the lid and ate all 4 Kgs in a week.

I have been using it for both, outdoor and indoor, why can't the stronger one be used out doors?

Hi I have used up all my rat posion(Tom Cat) and wondered if I should buy more of the same or use a diffrent brand? are there any paticually strong posions avaliable? Thanks.

Hello. I'm looking to get an air rifle to take care of a rabbit problem I'm suffering. The problem is, I have no idea which air rifle is appropriate, I don't have any license of any kind for a fire arm. I'm in England. The rifle must be able to easily kill a rabbit(cleanly). I just need the cheapest rifle that can easily kill rabbits! Thank you! Glass.

More really does need to be done to control the rat population.
