  1. I think that any dog that is to be bred from has to prove itself in whatever field that the dog is in, whether its for hunting or showing or whatever the pups will be used for, I have pets but I would never breed from as to me they are not worthy in my eyes no matter how much I love them, if your dog is a great worker, then I would try to find a bitch that is a equally good worker or even a better one, as like other people say look at the dogs where people just breed any dog to any dog, the dogs are not benefiting from it, and I feel about saying about the dogs in homes, there are a lot of Lur
  2. I don't know, but my Saluki Greyhound is great at training, but surprisingly my GSD Greyhound is the worst dog I've ever known for training but we don't work them, they can go where they can hunt if they want to, but were not fussed, the Saluki X doesn't know what to do and the GSD X is a natural one, he has caught and killed things, and at least weekly has caught something if let down the lake, if not more, although at one time he met a Fox, and none of them got too much damage to them as they were both young, and I think both were surprised to see each other
  3. Sorry I don't know, I just wanted to ask if theres any Borzoi in there?
  4. Great looking pup you have their, both off you. And they do look really similar.
  5. Just because they fly off doesn't mean they survive She has a mouth like a retriever bless her, the other one is happy to kill, but she is so blonde she doesn't get it, mind you I tell a lie she did kill a rabbit the other day, we never realised she had one and she went swimming, and she drowned it in her mouth, not the most normal way of killing a rabbit but there you go, but we checked that rabbit to see if she had even cut it and she never, she just thinks that they are prizes or toys, she is not the most normal of lurchers, or longdogs whatever you want to call her, sometimes I s
  6. I'm sorry but I don't agree with this, I really don't like hitting dogs and could never do it whatever, actually tell I lie I hit the bull terrier when it was on my hand but felt so guilty after, what you are teaching if you do this is to fear people, and that could lead to so many problems later on, my dogs are members of the family, but ever since they were pups they had things taken off them, even food bowls when they were eating in order to get them to know that we were more dominant then them and we have never had any problems with them, never a growl or a snap, they even bow down to a f
  7. I think that you done the right thing, just recently I got given a bull terrier, I knew him a bit before but not totally, he was fine but one day he turned, he attacked one of my other dogs, and when I got him off her he got my hand, I ended up in hospital for 3 days because of it and just got out of needing plastic surgery, and still haven't got the full use back in my hand and I never will, but I would do it all again to protect Honey, the thing was we were given him, and only after we found out that he had attacked in the past because the previous owners never said anything (not saying that
  8. Your dogs look cute, I don't hunt, but I like to see what dogs can do when they are doing what they are bred for, and am actually what most people call a bunny hugger as I am studying animal care, but even there 3 out of 4 of the lecturers hunt and we are around their dogs most of the time, and where I live different hunting is always going on so I'm used to it.
  9. lol shes as soft as anything bless her, she has caught pheasants before, but brings them back to us alive, and when she drops them they fly off, our other one a GSD Greyhound is totally different, but hes fav thing to catch for some reason is crows, so much that he can't be let off lead down the field near the park as he upsets kids as he has perfected the art of catching and shaking crows and all the children get upset, and I feel like I want the ground to swallow, I don't like crows, but the first time he did it there was a load of parents there who started shouting abuse at me and the dog,
  10. I have a Saluki Greyhound but not for working, and I think that she is the most beautiful and most intelligent dog ever, and shes a dog version of what most men want, blonde, leggy, skinny, funny lol thats my excuse why she is spayed but all the males still want her. But she's my gorgeous girl and my baby I don't think I could be without her now. And because I love showing her off, here she is Ok I say she's not a worker but she loves killing the bull rushes down the lake and she has been taught to open the front door to visitors My one issue with that photo is that she has been r
  11. Thanks, the male is the biggest wimp though, he is scared of westies and will run from them, although in October so now the farmer lets out a big red stag as he breeds big reds on the fields around and he says to walk the dogs without a muzzle encase a problem does come up as the big red has been known to get angry and attack people and there is not really any gates so it can go anywhere including the village, the last person that got attacked by a big red got chucked in the air loads of times and almost every bone in his body got broke as there was no-one to stop the stag and the stag just
  12. I've been reading other peoples post on here but not replying you all have great looking dogs and it looks like they are all hard workers aswell.
  13. Thanks for the welcomes, and I love the look of your dog in your avatar jordy p
  14. I am a proud owner of a Lurcher Diesel (father first generation GH X GSD) and a Longdog Honey (Saluki X GH) I don't work mine but are interested in hearing stories of people that do work there dogs, Here are some pics of mine, they are off the phone so are not good quality I'm afraid. This is Honey, the farmer wants dogs that the owners do not pay to hunt to wear muzzles at the track, he was the same when we had our Deerhound and our Whippet, but there is over 5 acres of farm land up there that he don't mind them running on so I don't mind putting muzzles on them, This is Diese
