  1. Well, I started the thread asking, what the ultimate deer dog would be! So in you're opinion it's a half x bull grey, is it?
  2. That's not the ultimate deer dog though isit!
  3. What about fox as well? I Quite like the thought of a 1/4 bull 3/4 grey, x 1/4 sal 3/4 grey, so the pups would be 1/8bull 1/8 sal 3/4 grey.
  4. I baught a black dog called bob from a traveller in Hertford a long time ago, about 25 inch, a little bit nuts, slipped him on a daytime hare, a bit of an optimistic slip but hey! He put in a couple of good strikes, but the hare got to cover! Gutted, bob presumed the hare & all you could hear was him going through the cover, then nothing! We lost him for what seemed 20-30 mins, so we decided to walk to an area of cover where it thaught I'd seen a bit of movement, low & behold a fresh roe doe, dead, with a tell tale injury to the neck! But no bob!? We called & called, & eventual
  5. I had 2 good dogs for deer years ago, the first was a 1/4 bull 3/4 grey called minty, heart of a lion, there weren't many he would miss, but he wouldn't pressure them in the middle of a field, but always catch them close to the hedge/fence! The next was a 30 inch 1/4 deer 3/4 grey called ghengis, he was a flyer on open land, & catch them on the run before they turned, but if they turned, & he missed, he'd over run, not the best turner, but when he caught em, it was text book stuff!
  6. they would have been fallow too! In the forestry, no?
  7. I've always wondered what the ultimate deer dog would be, I mean, a dog that can get up to a roe buck, quickly, & pull it over without a hedge in sight! (Pre ban of course!) up & at them types! Not too big that they don't turn as well, yet not too small that they struggle! I've seen a few good dogs through the years, the question is what was the best you've seen? Size, percentages etc? Cheers,

  15. my mate is selling a cracking bitch, she is 26.5", 12 months old and catching rabbits well, she has not been shown any other quarry whatsoever! quiet in the kennels, jumps well, & is brocken to stock. this is a genuine ad as he was due to only keep 1 pup out of his dog, but has decided to keep 2! its only fair on the bitch! she can motor! bell him on 07814886707, he aint an armchair hunter like us! lol! sire= joe wooleys dog "raven", dam= liz halls coursing greyhound. £200 is a fair price for this bitch, she is fit and ready to go. cant say no more than that.
