    Wonder if anyone has a Sako 85 varminter laminated stainless (flutted barrel)? :tongue4: I'm thinking about one . I may have one of my other guns sold so its got to be replaced . I'm looking for a gun that can do long range target stuff (1000yds) and hunt with. Any thoughts

    Just like to say that the bag is filled with "Basmati" gives a far better feel and less kick, "long grain" is not so good the grains are to big.

    CWB the Sauer is not mine it's Mattydski's, so he would be the man to ask. I shot the pish group with the Tikka on the pink square's. The range was sighting at 100 and then back to 200yds The bad group was me, I was out on Friday night to much drink! :sick: The Landy is Mattydski's (Rich Man). To clean the Tikka I use bore foam,brush and a mop. I also do a bit of target and I use the bags for that, as you see the bags done nothing to help my grouping.     Was out sighting in today and thought I'd post some pictures. Rifles are Sauer 202 in 243 and a Tikka varmint in 223. The 100yd mark Back to 200yds Nice grouping from the Sauer Not good at all from the Tikka!!!! I think to much Guinness and OVD :sick: Rich man loads of Sako brass rolling about Some high flying birds.

    I have a T3 varminter. I take my stock off after its been out in the rain (2 screws) to clean the trigger parts and chamber, scope zero is never afected. How could you zero change only way it will change is if you move your scope on the action. There is no bedding blocks in this rifle but the action to stock fit on a synthetic stocked Tikka is very tight. Hope this helps

    Just remember to buy a SPORTING or GAME semi auto shotgun . It's not practical to shoot game with a TRAP or SKEET gun.

    All sorts of opinions here . Buying a rifle is a personal thing and down to what "lifts your kilt". You can get info from forums like this and form your own oppinion from other shooters experiences. But at the end of the day its your money and it's you that makes the final choice. There is no such thing as an inaccurate rifle it's down to the shooter himself. The majority of gun manufactures have been around a very long time and their products are highly developed, things do break and ware out. but in all the years (25 plus)I've shot (pistol and rifle) I've never shot out a barrel.

    Just got my new scope Bushnell 4200Elite 6-24x50 mildot been pissing about for months trying to get it at the right price. E-mailed the states a number of times but there prices are crap with the fall of the pound to the dollar. Any way got the best price from Opticware House £429 plus postage, but they could'nt give me a firm delivery date. They e-mailed me and said they had a demo one. What a saving so hope this thing shoots as well as it looks.

    Sorry guy's I disagree , most of the things you talk about are all spin offs from military and tactical hardware, and in the correct hands very usefull tools. Only one thing I dont like is BDC scopes (BULLET DROP COMPENSATORS) you have the scope mached to the calibre and bullet weight you use. The majority of hunting is done upto a maximim range of 300m. Like to see you drop a beast at 1800m? Well thats what some of our guys in Afganastan are doing and it's not beasts there aiming at.     Maybe it's me but I thought that if you have a barrel that has one complete twist in 7" 8" or 9" and a barrel with one complete twist in 12" the bullet spins faster comming from the 1:7", 8" or 9" twist barrel as there is more complete twists of the rifling in the barrel. I could be wrong

    Hi I shoot a Tikka T3 varmint 223 1:8 twist. I use 55g FMJ , 65g Sierra gameking and 75g A-max. They all shoot well in the rifle. My main load is 24.5grains of Vihtavouri N140 and a 75g Hornady A-max bullet. For you to get a consistent velocity and you are loading as per the powder manufacturers recomendations your reloading must be good. When seating bullets I seat them to fit in my mag as A-max bullets are very long, as long as the bullets can't be pushed in the case or pulled out of the case seating the bullet is down to personal preference.     Looking to buy a Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-25 x 50 mildot , best price I could get in the UK is £495. Had a quote of £430 but they cant supply (Can't say who just now), so had a look at the good old US of A , best price is $606 including postage converted to pounds is £372, which is a very good price. The thing is after you add the VAT/Tax @ 30% of the initial goods cost the price goes to £479 a saving of £18. Is it worth it? No one in my local area can come close to the £430 quotation I got for the scope, is it best to just buy for your local dealer, or am I just a very tight Scots

    3'x5' Axminster Wilton % wool 20% nylon shaggpile. Very cozey and easy dryed. Only problem I have is the cream one is a nightmare to keep clean

    I think you'll find that Tikka are going back to 1:12 twist barrells because there .223 range are primerally getting used for hunting, and the majority of users like using lighter bullets. If you look at the .223 T3 tactical it will use the 1:8 twist because they are used by Military, Police or target shooters who use the heaver bullets for longer ranges. I'm confident to use my T3 .223 up to 500 ,600 and 700yds no problem, this is with 75g Hornady Amax.

    I shoot a Tikka T3 varmint 223 1:8 twist. I relaod using 24.5grains VitN140 with 75g A-max bullets works great. I also found it difficult to get factory ammo with heavy bullets. Have you tried Privi Partizan PPU match Line they use a 75grain bullets, price arround £45 per 100 Henry Krank is the main dealer (I think). I have not used Prive Partizan 223 myself but use their 303 rounds and found them very good. Must say I have no problems with my 1:8 twist barrell using light 55g bullets. I use 55grain FMJ , Sierra Gameking 65 grain and Hornady 75 grain A max and find no difference in accurac

    What powder measure do you use? I would like to know what one is the most accurate (not including electronic sales). I use a Lee Perfect Powder measure and I dont think it's accurate enough. Every time I charge a case I measure the load first and I'm finding slight differences, the scales will read lower or if I tap the powder container the charge is always over. Hence I always weight every charge, but I would like a measure that gives me the correct ammont every time. Any thoughts?

    Hi to all on the Fourm. Been shooting for more years than I care to remember I'm new to the hunting scene, most of my shooting was Practical SLR Rifle and Pistol shooting. But now we no longer have them it just my trusty .22 and .223 bolts I use. Fa Bonny Dundee
