  3. Nice looking animal that DeerhoundLurcherMan
  4. I'd love to but I don't know how to do it.
  5. I've seen & handled my fair share of deerhound/greyhound crosses, & I've found them to be temperamental; very shy with strangers (even ones I've met & attempted to become friendly with for years) but they are very loyal with their owners. The deerhound/collie/greyhound cross that I own is a little scattered brained but she is definitely loyal & obedient. She's more sight hound than collie so she's a lot different from my first cross collie/greyhound. The first cross was a dream to train this new one needed a little more time to get her act together but I still love her
  6. I'm taking this is meant as a joke rather than a dig. Who typed this? Was it the father or the daughter? It was more of an enjoyment factor than a lack of understanding
  7. I've been told & observed, that Deerhound crosses are sensitive. My cross was the same & she's starting to come through for me. IMHO give yours every chance you can give, it'll come through for you in the end & you'll not regret the time & patience you've put in
  8. Welcome to the forum I hope you enjoy it as much as I have
  9. I thought my bitch was nice but there are some really fine specimens on here. Again people thank you for sharing your pictures.
  10. I have to admit I have a soft spot for Collie x Greyhounds but after having my new lurcher a Collie/Deerhound/Greyhound mix, I'll always have one of them in my yard! This thread is a good read & I'd like to thank those who shared on here .
  11. I have just that type of lurcher & she's a very versatile worker. I intend to put another Hancock x Deerhound over her to replace my aged first cross Collie x Greyhound bitch (In her day she was good on the lamp & a perfect ferreter's dog)
  12. The pup is just over six months old, I'd start a pup on small quarry once the permanent teeth come through!
  13. While recovering in hospital I read an interesting article in this months Shooting Times. It was about a gundog called the Lagotto Romagnalo, I couldn't help wondering whether or not this dog (especially the smaller specimens) could be used as a possible OC (out-cross) for the working Bedlington Terrier to help eradicate: Copper Toxicosis or Copper Storage Hepatopathy!
  14. Yes we think it was either a feral dark ferret or a young mink. Either way it GTF pretty quick
  15. I have a lot of the books stated above & I have enjoyed reading ALL of them, IMHO there's nothing like a good hunting book at the bedside to help you get on your way to dreamland or to pass a quiet moment during the early hours when the brain is at it’s most receptive to new information & revision/refreshment of old!!!
  16. p3d: Those are some real nice quality pictures that you've posted up. for sharing them
  17. You have me at a disadvantage as I don't know what you're on about. If however you wish to continue to make this personal, may I suggest you don't highjack other users threads & instead PM me with the information.
  18. I don't know what type of "bushing" you do but mine is always is with an eye of putting something on the table, my dogs are always under my control & do as they are told. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the job of the "beater" &/or his disciplined dog was to produce sport for the "shooters" who may or may not be interested in eating what they shot. Yes you're right both, can to some people, be totally different scenarios but both do involve dogs working through cover & above ground. Again to the individual who started this thread... good luck with your terrier!
  19. I just love reading information on "white lakelands"! Thanks for sharing guys!!!
