ALL GONE - Ferret Kits (Albino) Pics Added
RWDSteve replied to RWDSteve's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
All gone, quite surprised that only the 2 year old Gill went as a result of being put on here. Must be a supply and demand thing. Two went by word of mouth and the other went due to posting on preloved.com, maybe worth a try for anyone else with Kits -

Still one Gill left after more timewasting. Can I just address those of you reading this and thinking you wouldn't mind a Ferret. Before enquiring please:- - Make sure you've got somewhere to keep it AND its ready to be used and suitable - Make sure you've got permission to have one if you need to - If you don't already know about caring for a Ferret then research this FIRST - Decide whether or not you want to travel the distance to pick one up - Make sure you have the finances and time to care for one (or more) properly Its pretty simple stuff and apologies to those of you who ar -

I've got a 5 month old Bedi/Whippet/Collie/Greyhound. Just getting back into the game again. Used to go out a fair bit with a mates Ferrets and Dogs when I was still at school all them years ago. Don't remind me about those deer, I hit one in my car up near the Mermaid over Leek way about 4-5 years ago, pretty much wrote the car off and nearly came through the windscreen (my Dad didn't believe me until I showed him the deer hair stuck in the glass)... then ran off! Seems be alot of Hares and Hawks about over this way this year but not that many rabbits. Good to see them back though, th -

1 Hob, 2 Gills. Great little bundles of fun. I've been dropped in it by those ever present timewasters who asked me to save them and then mysteriously fail to answer emails or phonecalls (One lad even rang to say he was on his way but no show!) I'm located near Buxton, Derbyshire. Can deliver within a short range. I've tried to get some pictures but anyone who's tried to photograph a Ferret with a Camera Phone will know my struggle. I got some half decent pics of them. I've also got an Albino Gill, 2 years old (not the mother) belonging to a friend who's going to Uni i

Buxton, Peak District. I've got an Albino Gill about 2 years old. She belonged to a friend who's off to University. I've got her in with mine at the moment but I don't need any more Ferts. She can be handled but will nip now and again. She was worked last season and I've had her down the farm today round the corn bins ratting. I'm in Buxton, Peak District if anyone is interested. She's free of course. PM me or call 07968662384 Cheers Steve

Ask around, see if anyone's got an old cupboard. A bit of vision and you'll get a good hutch for nothin other than an hour or two's work.

Just a follow up on a thread about bringing Jill's out of season. There seems to be a divide on people's opinions and I thought it would be interesting to do a poll. If you've never tried to leave a Jill to come out of season by herself then please don't take part in the poll. This is purely a poll for people who've tried it themselves thus cutting out the "my mate tried it" factor. First effort at putting a poll up but I think it should look ok.
-
Can anyone recommend a suitable disinfectant? I've not used any to clean the hutch before but have been told its best to use some. I was just wondering what to use that won't cause the Ferts any irritation.

Yeh, I've watched two. One of some woman ramblin on n then a nerdy lad sat in a shed. Bit of a let down but I'll persevere n watch some more

Just been told about the Rural Channel on Sky. There's a program on it called Country Pursuits, looks like its a series played on loop. Spotted a few epsiodes featuring Ferrets and Ferreting. Not watched any yet but got Sky+ on the case. Just thought some of you might be interested, think its page 279 just above the movie channels.

James Wellbeloved for mine, an egg or chicken carcass now and again. She won't touch minced beef, tried her on tripe yesterday and its untouched. The kits had a chew on it but she confiscated it off 'em

Just found this, £10 per .5mg jab - http://www.wessexferretclub.co.uk/jill_jabs.htm then this, Delvestron over the counter at £50.78 for 100mg - http://www.bestpetpharmacy.co.uk/detailed_...ct.asp?id=69012 So, and I'm no mathematician and probably have this wrong somewhere, that means that one 0.5mg shot costs 25p! Am I right there? Surely not?

how old are they?

I could do with some Lithium-Ion Batteries, but apart from that they're pretty good. The Cordless SDS is a brilliant piece of kit but the drill driver in the pic has developed play in the head and I've only had it 18 months (I'm a Self-Employed Sparky so it does get used quite often). If you're thinking of gettin some cordless gear Hitachi is good for the money, a bit better quality than Ryobi. Bosch is the best stuff in the price range but its a bit more expensive. I want a Bosch GSR10.8V Driver, with a Lithium-Ion battery. They're the best drivers I've used. Not an option in the budget a

Yeh, go for it I've seen one made out of an old wardrobe before, required a fair bit more meshing but you get the picture. If you haven't got anything try Freecycle. If you want to make an outdoor hutch just fabricate a roof to screw on top and line it with some old tarpauline or a corn bag. Paint it up with some weatherproof paint, make sure you reinforce any panels that might go soft when wet. Silicone sealer is always a handy waterproofer although there may be some debate on whether its animal safe. Hope I've inspired some people into saving themselves a few quid!

I did wonder wether or not to make the cupboard a 3 floor jobby and use the drawers as bedding areas but decided to section off the top left hand corner instead. Just open the left door and your in, drilled a hole in the base so they climb in from below. My theory being it cuts down on any bad weather blowing in (I was going to put it outside). My mate's bought a cheap hutch, its loads smaller and the wood is barely more than paper thin.
-
I decided that today was the day I should extend the hutch ready for when the Kits start running about. Cost of hutch build to date is sweet FA (Nothing). All you need is some old odds and sods and a bit of imagination What do ya reckon? I started with an old cupboard.

I've just filled an old jam jar with cold water and chilled it in the freezer, put it in the sleeping area and she seems happy enough.
