  1. Actually it is a bit confusing with regard Hare, but I see it as... If you have permission to shoot on a farm/estate/etc/etc with clearly defined boundaries you can shoot them ALL year...the closed season does not apply. There is only a closed season on moorland or unenclosed land an only then in some circumstances. No shooting Game FOR SPORT on Sundays, includes birds and Deer (...there are exceptions for Vermin control, Humane despatch, etc). It is suggested this was to give the peasants a chance to practice their Archery skills on Sundays (on targets) and more recently (100-15
  2. Thanks for all the votes people, but with respect it hasn't helped in the slightest lol still keep voting away. Thanks again
  3. Hare season is : 1 August - 29 February http://www.willogame.co.uk/game_seasons.htm It isn't that simple......Hares cannot be sold from Mar 1 to July 31. If the land you shoot hares on is classed as moorland or unenclosed land and your permission on that land is through the landowner or occupier then a close season and other restrictions may legally apply on that land. ...and you are not meant to shoot them on Sundays, and a few other days of the year as well!!! my post did say that i got 2 hares sunday night aswell as the rabbits, however i did wait until 1am (mon

  5. After a post ( http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=88094 ) i'm asking fellow HMR owners how often they clean thier rifles. I've spoken to many RFD's and they have all told me different things! So ideally 'long time' users of HMR's will give the best advice but i'm open to anyone who has guidance on this poll. Thank You for your time
  6. i know 3 other people that shoot with the same bsa scope that i use, none of them have any trouble, they all use hmr too. I will keep an eye on things. still don't know how often i should be cleaning, makes perfect sence what 'woz' says. I think the plan is to - Re-check all is tight, mod as well. fully clean complete rifle put 10 rounds through it after clean re-set zero go lamping and test zero after a few outings Just to rule out the 'cleaning' issue i have, i will not clean for 50rounds and see if my zero still differs. Thanks guys Well - zero'd t

  8. Not so true, funny enough i've shot about rabbits this year, and the ones that wern't headshots didn't really get blown to bits, some can though.
  9. talk to this bloke mate, (i had no end of issues with my Logun lamping kit) I have a tracer max and they are the boll***s. but for an air rifle, you don't need the max, go for the compact. i never use the full beam at 400yds, and thats with my hmr!
  10. thats it, will last you all night - dependant on how much time it's on full beam, but a 6 hour night shoot, it's never died on me.(yet) well worth getting.
  11. lol, not got the cables on in that picture, the black patch is where the dimmer/on-off switch goes. The lamp as a whole is perfect for me, lasts me 7hours of lamping and 400m beam is more than enough, but always get a dimmer.
  12. CZ452 Varmint - heavy, long barel, BSA 6-24 x 50AO scope, SAK mod rifle £280 scope £110 mod £35 Deden tracer maxi pro lamp £89 Very happy with it.

  14. My 2pence worth is .17HMR Good out to 200yds, perfect for bunny bashing. (22 has the advantage in the noise dept) but i went the hmr route and never looked back, price wise, from £280ish for a CZ 452 (different options for stock, barel length/finish/thickness) SAK moderator £35 ish Scope - sky is the limit, but £120 will get a starting scope. ammo - a bit pricey approx £21-£24 per 100 rounds I only use this for rabbit, wouldn't use it for charlie - some do, some are totally against it - (i'm saying no more) Best of luck
  15. That fills me with confidance! What causes a burnt out barel? i asume that it can't be restored...? Mine was new and i've only put 600 rounds through it, and if anything it sounds like i've over cleaned it! Cheers
  16. it's hard to know whats the best thing to do. i will leave cleaning for 100 rounds and hopefully that'll cure the problem. i do use more ammo re-setting zero than i do bunny bashing! Just concerned that by not cleaning, i will do damage to the barel, but, like you, many people seem to leave it between 200-400 rounds before a clean. Cheers
  17. Mod is tight mate. Cleaning seems to be a grey area with the HMR's. Many local RFD's have told me to clean the rifle after evey use, due to the HMR being such a dirty round But i'm wondering if this is the cause of the problem? Will leave the cleaning for 100 rounds and see if the problems continue. Cheers
  18. Sorry, forgot that important bit of info, i replaced my nikko stirling gold grown, due to this issue, and it is the same with the BSA.... It gets a clean after 50rounds, i know that the grouping with expand after a clean for a few rounds, which i have noticed, however it always returns to normal, but then, yet again, my zero goes way off during the middle of a nights shooting, just can't get my head round why it keeps doing this. Every thing is tight and transported in a case to and from any shoot, never knocked either...!?
  19. Hi all, i have a BSA Essential 6-24x50 AO, using .17hmr hornady v-max B/tip. I seem to be losing my zero every 30-40 rounds. (by 2-4'' at 100yds) Brought 400 rounds at once, same batch number, stored correctly etc. What can be causing the scope to keep losing zero?? Cheers
  20. maybe this is part of the training too??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=405j9rwBqRw...feature=related
  21. hi rich, i got one direct from factory, send them a e,mail Hi mate, do you know if there is a 10shot mag for .17hmr? or is it the same mag? cheers
  22. Seems sensible.... and if they work ...stock up, probably no different, many other colour tips as well, simply down to a different name on the box usually!! went lamping last night, ran out of my usual red tips, and being at night i couldn't be bothered to set up a target and re-zero with the blue tips, so loaded up with blue tips and shot 3 rabbits out of 3, clean head shots. so no difference, they were 50-70yrds but will check zero this afternoon, but so far, so good! I'll be stocking up later deker! Cheers all.
  23. sounds about right, did notice the hm2 had a blue tip... i'm saving £2.90 per 50 rounds so i'm happy!!!
  24. at my local FAD today, needed some ammo. £11.10 for 50 rounds of Hornady V-max .17hmr. (this is what i usually buy) he then comes out and offers me the '''same''' round, but at £8.20 for 50 rounds. So i asked whats the difference, he said - one has a red tip, the other a blue tip. He couldn't answer why there is a difference in price, same spec, fps, calibre, different designed sticker on the box but thats all!?? Not on the Hornady website with blue tip at all! ( I know that the HM2 mach2 has blue tip, these are deff. .17hmr) Please someone advise!! Thank
