  1. good blood in him then.hes the double of cruises grandson flak
  2. cracking looking dog mate did you breed him yourself
  3. if brains were chocolate yours wouldnt fill a smartie
  4. my saluki x whippet bitch 24ats timid but good grafter with heart and lungs to tackle anything from rabbits to roe. skin like a fag paper though
  5. it doesnt work like that, its all good and well saying your dog for example is a 5/8 grey 3/8 collie but in reality genes dont seperate in neat little portions like that .even first crosses percentages of traits from sire and dams to offspring is at best guesswork and when you start adding more breeds to the cross as well, say 4 or more like for example colliexgreyxsalukixwhippet forget about it .
  6. dogs seem to be enjoying themselves. its funny when i take mine to beach even my oldest whos a picture of composure and calmness at all other times loses herself and reverts back to a pup and gets that sparkle back in her eyes it doesnt all have to be about working them i get as much pleasure out of seeing them enjoy themselves as they say all work and no play. i think the seaside brings out the kid in me too aswell and an appetite
  7. alrite mate.its because its your post, when i see my own posts it has a different symbol but when i see your posts it has the envelope thanks for clearing that up for me mate thought i was maybe doing something wrong
  8. why do i have a different symbol beside my threads instead of an envelope like rest just curious
  9. spent all day yesterday planting trees in a stableyards paddocks to keep sweet with owner in past ive built blockwalls around lunge area fixed drystone walls, fences allsorts of little jobs its been a pain sometimes i admit but its worth it though as it has good stock of rabbits and rats and other larger stuff just wondered what anyone else has done for permission and whats furthest you have gone distance wise on a regular basis
  10. i like my first cross border greys but then i pick racy pups that look most like grey its not foolproof as a pup can change sometimes drastically but have more chance than picking pup that looks heavy collie influenced. heres my boy coming up 4yrs now
  11. theres no harm in trying dont just give up like previous owner if nothing else you will gain a little experience before you get another dog if it doesnt work out. have you any photos of the dogs
  12. i would go with a complete break from hunting with them for at least 6month just walks to keep fitness up and bond with them then start as you would with pup take one dog at a time on ferreting trips no bolters just watching, marking, maybe holding netted rabbits when they seem confident at this then give them dropper each one dog at a time the easier the better see how they react if they ok give them couple more, confidence should build gradually dont rush it take your time plenty of praise, when they running and taking the droppers well without any trouble try them on lamp but pick them eas
  13. another from cruise lines my saluki x whippet bitch 7yrs old
  14. it wasnt the cigar lighter part i always cut them off and put on spade connectors it was the wiring inside the lamp itself maybe i just got a bad one shame because apart from that its a pretty good lamp
  15. had another nights lamping spoilt by wiring in my striker its down to cheap copper wire which for a lamp costing 70 quid isnt on ,i checked wiring before went out as usual seemed ok ,have to walk 4 miles to land where lamp but worst part was dog was in middle of run when went off which could have led to injury luckily she was ok but to say the air was blue is an understatement mumbled of course as i tried to botch it together
  16. thats a cracking looking dog how old is it
  17. regardless of breeding of dog everyone has there opinions of what makes a good allround dog looks aside focusing only on ability. before the ban this would include winter hares and fox but what about nowadays that the main quarry is rabbit what constitutes a good allrounder how would you prioritise attributes of that dog eg; brains, stamina, strike, catchrate, speed, retrieve, nose, drive, temperement ect
  18. i teach all my dogs hand signals even the terriers ie; left, right, stop, stay wait ect just wondered how many other people do same
  19. this is the dog from the same litter as the two in other post
  20. the best explanation i can give is the difference between chargers is like trying to fill a cup with water if the tap is on full yes it fills quicker but not fully as you only get 3/4 of a cup before it goes everywhere no matter how long you leave it you still only get 3/4 of a cup where with slow running tap just like trickle charger it takes longer but it fills to the brim hope this makes sense
  21. as mentioned earlier the dislike of white dogs came down to the fact that they stand out even at night and if your somewhere you shouldnt be thats not good especially if landowner or gamekeeper a bit triggerhappy .as a kid i was always told to stay away from dogs with white feet as their nails are weak and prone to splitting myself i havnt noticed it to be that much of a problem maybe ive just been lucky .also white dogs are prone to sunburn especially the ears .then theres the fact that a higher percentage of white dogs are born deaf what this percentage is i dont know but im sure its negligi
  22. heres two from last season just coming up a year old bred from my colliexgrey dog and s alukixwhippet bitch. pictures arnt too clever got others but all over the allowed 500 kb
  23. thats a cracking looking beast there mate how tall is it
  24. even electrical suppliers have batts at half price of what you been quoted 12v 20ah for 40 quid 12v 7ah 15 quid not deben but brand new. clulite do a shoulder bag for 7ah batts for few quid .whatever batt you go for depends on how long you want to last as for the lamp strikers are ok apart from crappy internal wireing
  25. its not a cure for flat feet tho as he claimed it had done for his dog no matter how much calcium is in it .but thanks for telling me whats in jelly id never have guessed sorry for sarcasm but please
