  1. if you want to try beating then register and post on www.pubs.myfunforum.org its free
  2. put a post on www.pubs.myfunforum.org its all free getting experience is just the start - many estates want college trained people but try and get that first experience before committing yourself. Be warned though for every keepers job vacancy there are many fully qualified and experienced people applying
  3. You will find help in training and also finding a shoot on www.pubs.myfunforum.org its all free
  4. welcome mate if you want more beating post on www.pubs.myfunforum.org no charges at all
  5. take a look at www.pubs.myfunforum.org its free, just register and post in "Beaters seeking shoots" and also read "Shoots seeking beaters"
  6. Agreed Stewie but NOBS repeatedly asserts that IT IS THE ONLY one linking shoots and beaters etc., it is NOT, but is the only one to charge for the priviliege. Frequently Keepers and Shoot Captains have told myself and others that they paid once but will never do so again, often hearing absolutely nothing, and the same has been experienced by people seeking shoots - just read this topics posts!
  7. TG Firstly I have never made any PERSONAL attacks on my forums, unlike you who seems to want to have a go at me every time, just proves you should examine firstly your motives and also your probity. Regarding death, as you are no doubt aware, I have dealt with the loss of my wife last October, suddenly following hip replacement surgery, after 37 years together so I know how to deal with loss. You attacked me then for still running PuBS Forum - for your information she was thrilled at how PuBS had grown and was working so well and wanted it to develop and get more people on shoots. In her mem
  8. Tomnobes asks why I am concerned about NOBS Finances - it is patently obvious he has not read them or he may not realise how bad they are. Total Income is down by over £10,275 due to loss of nearly £6,000 Mitsubishi sponsorship, despite a raffle for a beaters trailer(won by ticket number 6,000+) and the launch of a book on picking up. If over 6,000 raffle tickets at a £1 were sold the income figure is worse than anticipated. Total income was £18,280 from all sources so they cannot have the claimed 9,500 + as paid up members, even at £5 that would result in income of £47,500 +!! Expenditu
  9. TG and Tomnobes have both read my posts but it appears have no answers to offer. About par for the course all bluff and bluster and no content of consequence.
  10. The Gatekeeper posted: "ALL assumptions and WRONG ones too, that is why you and pubs man fit together so well. Maybe you are just ignorant to the facts or vindictive, I don't know, but it is one of them. Tell me though, what is bitter about asking a person to live by the principles he demands right for others? Pubs do what they criticise in others. There are still no finances on pubs, he will keep some private, he bans members for asking questions. When he does what he demands of others then perhaps he will have some solid ground to talk from." I shall explain in simple terms as it see
  11. Tomnobes As you have relatively recently become involved with NOBS you may not be aware that I supported NOBS in its intial form, both financially and in attending countless shows and enlisting many members over the first years, and also in purchasing most of the merchandise in the shop. For example 4 fleeces, spare wheel cover, lanyards, car stickers, badges, stormsure adhesive, uncle freds wire cover, several priests etc etc. Mark Elliott was my guest on a days shooting I bought. After some years I asked why no accounts were produced for members as every other countryside organisation
  12. Seems that no one from NOBS Management is prepared to enter a debate about the organisation, its structure and how it is run!! People slag me off then disappear - got used to that by now - especially when they hide behind cyber names!! I suspect Tomnobes has been told not to rock the boat by posting as he has been looking at THL forum but no more replies to the points raised herein! For every supporter and member there are many who joined NOBS and failed to renew after hearing nothing!
  13. Thanks for the feedback - nice to know that PuBS helped you. Sadly many others feel that NOBS take your money and you dont hear a thing, dont know if its down to poor admin or incompetence
  14. NOBS insurance deal is linked to SACS and there is some doubt about whether it covers paid activities such as beating or picking up on shoots, despite reassurances from a SACS director Foxgun Tom has raised his concerns on this forum, the company issuing the cover has failed to reply to me when i requested confirmation from them directly. BASC has singularly managed to annoy many of its own membership and many other organisations such as NGO,GWCT.CA. CLA etc etc
  15. I ve heard of a tragic accident recently involving a member of NOBS. I hope their insurance deal covers such things. http://www.eveningstar.co.uk/news/woman_shot_in_the_knee_1_267996 Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the poor lady. We must all be conscious of gun safety, especially in view of recent events, and this is not the only incident in recent years which has happened whilst pigeon shooting. Please dont get lackadaisical over gun safety our future sport depends on maximising safety issues.
  16. Nice to know we helped you Hucky. PuBS doesnt claim to be the only way to get on shoots, or shoots to fill vacancies, just affords a platform for people to connect. As a forum people do the work themselves and there is no need for a vast database or expensive computer hardware and software. The drawback is we dont get a lot of feedback! What we do get is largely positive and on several shoots which I personally attend a quite high proportion of the beaters etc are sourced through PuBS, and it costs them absolutely NOTHING>
  17. Tom Issues I have with NOBS Corporate structure not made clear to people paying subscriptions, and accounts not freely available to those people, even those figures that are shown in their accounts do not give a detailed breakdown of income from subs, donbations, merchandise sales etc. People raising concerns are not listened to and normally banned. Paid up membership figure not available - the oft quoted membership of 9,500 + includes those who have never paid a subscription, this figure is therefore misleading when quoted to anyone becoming a NOBS supporter or buying advertising in
  18. The Gatekeeper hasnt joine PuBS despite my invitation. TOMNOBES Have you ever wondered why you seem to be the lone voice supporting NOBS? Why does none of their senior management answer the concerns expressed here? Unless The Gatekeeper is one masquerading under yet another alias? Many people have paid money, and far from getting beating on top estates, have heard zilch!! In fact on many commercial shoots where I beat or pick up I cannot repeat the opinions expressed on NOBS performance in case I sully the delicate sensitivity of the members of THL forum.
  19. I reiterate, I will state the figure for donations but as all expenses are paid personally by me from my PRIVATE accounts why should you ask that I declare those costs, its my business and no one elses. Many other fora accept donations but I dont know of one that publishes figures or donors!! As admin of PuBS I appoint those persons I consider suitable as moderators, just as NOBS do on their forum - their "members" (in reality customers as they have no say in how it is run or managed) do not appoint moderators etc. The whole point is that PuBS does not charge people for connecting shoots and
  20. PuBS is not an organisation as such it is an internet forum and website, simple and easy to use, no need for databases etc as people do the work themselves, quickly and easily making contact and filling vacancies. no need for an unwieldy and inefficient management structure. As I personally pay the running costs - C£30 pa to operate the forum, C£90 pa for the website - with only half our allocation of space used to date, postages, advertising material such as cards, banners, fliers, marquee, fuel and running expenses why should I produce accounts? Such matters are surely my private affair.
  21. Dear gatekeeper feel free to rejoin PuBS - if you have problems then I will personally set up an account for you but as you probably realise, there is no need to register on PuBS to read topics, registration is needed to post replies but that is to restrict potential spammers As PuBS is FREE there is no need to have accounts - donations are voluntary - and I can inform you that the donations so far have not exceeded the operating costs which I have paid and will continue to pay. Be interesting to know how many fora have banned you? There has been, and always will be, co operation
  22. OMG .. still the same old same old from bitter one man band Pubs! If you don't like NOBS why the obsession? Unless its to line your Walter Mitty pockets. most the stuff you write is made up, another load is lies some is what you've been set up to say by others, stooge. Seems this guy is rather bitter. FACT I could not log in to NOBS Forum, presumed I was banned, later advised suspended but not the courtesy of an advice at the time. I resigned from SC because its lost its way and quite a few others have left too. I pay to operate PuBSForum and Website and wonder how I can l
  23. Examine the past forum posts by people and you will find that there are few abusive or closed minded posts, most of those are from people who should know better and those by Nick may be inquisitive but never abusive. The £5 to post on and read certain sections of the Forum is just semantics, you HAVE to pay the money to NOBS ergo it is a sub to post on the their forum. Full credit to you and your fellow NOBS in the East, but why then did NOBS have to spend so much money centrally when you have demonstrated that there is an easier and cheaper way of doing things? This is the same ex
