  4. my vet mentioned it after an accidental incident and went on to say that in particular areas around me the dog was at a greater risk of btb .

Unfortunately the levels of bTB are such that it is now spilling over into other species.

While there are still very few cases of TB found in dogs each year more and more animals are being found to have TB. There is no way of knowing if a farm has bTB so dog owners should be careful to keep control of their dogs when walking on footpaths, particularly being careful not to let them near badger setts, paths or latrines.

There are also an increasing number of domestic cats that have been found with TB in recent years (49 in 2009/10) as well as bovine TB in sheep, pigs, goats, alpacas (111 in 2009/10) and even humans. Unless TB is reduced in the environment it is likely that these cases will continue to increase as the disease is forced to find new hosts.

  5. sorry to hear that-some dirty c**t had my terrierboxes and bar etc away last time out ferreting nr tewksbury -put up some details of the truck sounds like it may of been nicked for order-maybe by someone close to home.watch the b*****ds dont come back for your dogs-they have tried 3 times to take my mates dogs in the last 2 yrs.

these c**ts need shooting.atb bobby-

did give that some consideration and have added a few bits of extra security

  6. cheers lads , insurance only does 200 for contents in motor but looking into house insurance cover . just the uncertainty at the moment no truck , no kit and no idea of what the insurance will offer . to replace the van would be anywhere from £5500 to £7000 plus around £1000 worth of kit , so hoping for a reasonable payout to get me back in business .

  7. last night my defender was nicked from outside my house , not over bothered about the motor as its insured but it contained all my terrier kit . couples collars , chains , digging stuff , lintran boxes , barryvox and two bellman collars , lamps and batteries ETC

    THIEVING SCUM :angry2: :angry2:

  8. Jesus that was a scary one,, ive heard of gasses but didnt know it was that quick, dogs must of released gas when they tramped on it,, did it have any effect on the rat? hope dogs come round for you pal,, keep us posted.

couldnt believe how quick it was , and probably wouldnt have believed it if i hadnt seen it with my own eyes . didnt really notice the rat but the dogs had grabbed it so i presume that it was dead either way , but the older bitch seems to have steadied now and has been for a short walk tonight so alls well that ends well . its just an odd situation that i would have never even considered the consequences of before now , ive been ratting there dozens of times and like most good ratting spots its a bit of a shit pit . thanks for the concern

  9. There must of been very little ventilation in the shed.It happens when the tank is been agitated and pockets of gas get released.

on that particular farm they use a powdered gyproc as bedding and it may have had a crust over a pocket of gas but until it happened i was unaware of anything like that , the shed had been empty for about a week and is essentially an open unit apart from the rear wall .

  10. in some of the older nimh batteries on drills etc they have a type of memory , so if you constantly charge them from a point other than empty they tend to remember and work to those parameters.

not sure if its the same for liion but an expensive lesson to learn either way

i got a spare 12v 7ah yuhasa brand new that you can have if you pay for the post .

  11. Close call that all right mate!

Hope the dawgs don't have any lasting damage.

    Cheers, D.

cheers but i think the older bitch may have been out for a liitle to long , we are just watching and waiting for her to see how she gets on for the next 24hrs . according to some info the effects can be delayed by upto 72hrs , should have taken a canary

  12. went for a morning ratting yesterday on a cattle farm , all was going well . dogs catching here and there , then a rat bolted through an empty cattle shed . the shed was open apart from a rear wall which the rat followed . the 3 dogs followed the rat about five yards in and grabbed it , next thing all then dogs collapsed and stopped breathing . it was so quick that we thought they were just stuck in the cow shit/straw , my mate dived in and threw the dogs to me , all limp and lifeless . the hearts were still beating but no other signs of life , i blew into the first dog and after a bit of shaking and rubbing he came round slowly . he was rigid at first and unstable on his feet but back breathing , we then did the same to the other two . the younger bitch second to be revived was ok but the older bitch last to be revived is still unsteady and a little disorientated this morning . after a little research i think it was a common sewer gas h2s hydrogen sulfide , according to wikipedia its produced by decomposing rotting organic matter and if present in a reasonable quantity can render the inhaler unconscious in one breath !! and obviously if not acted upon can be fatal .
