  5. my jimny gets 33mpg with muds on, an sj gets 25 if your lucky
  6. sj's are very capable machines and should go any were your hunting takes you, cheap, but very uncomfortable and like a drink i would save your pennys and get the updated version the jimny, they are more comfortable but will tackle any terrain as a good as an sj and are a very reliable so will save you in the long run.
  7. Thankyou some valid points brought up there! he is muzzled at the moment purely for peace of mind but he still shows aggression with it on but to less effect, the dog he is most in contact with in the car is his brother who is as laid back as can be. I will knock the spray collar idea on the head. thanks for the replys.
  8. has anyone had any experiance with remote spray collars opossed to E collars? i have had various problems with my dog during his training but have overcome all through persistance, but he has developed a problem which i cannot get him out off, he shows aggression towards other dogs when in the car with them. He tenses up and sits and waits for something to touch him and then lets loose when they do! i need to try something fresh and have seen these spray collars which seem handy im not opossed to the E collar but im just weighing up options. It makes going out lamping stressful for me and is g
  9. redundancy forces reluctant sale, .22 thumbhole stock weihrauch hw100k carbine, simmons whitetail classic 3.5-10x50, harris bipod with swivels, neoprene realtree sling, logun lamp with battery, charger and filter kit, divers bottle and all charging equipment (the bottle itself may need a new cert depending were you get it filled from) i bought the gun and scope brand new and is still in perfect condition i still have all manuals and orginal boxes. i have owned many air rifles and rate it higher than any other its never ever let me down in either reliability or performance, i will no doubt buy
  10. strong looking bitch in very good condition looks the part
  11. great work, bet the dogs are happy aswel
  12. i have have a facelift td4 2004 model and have had a trouble free year, i believe you either get a 2004+ model or dont bother getin one as reviews on sites like parkers etc will give you all the feed back you need regarding the pre facelift. they have underrated offroad ablity and once you learn to take them smooth over mud and wet fields etc you wont get stuck with some good tyres they are not true offroaders but are as capable as most people need as for there road mannors there great, powerful, and economical 38-42mpg do some more research on the net before buying though.
  13. im really greatful for the advice, stubborn he certainly is and a challenge but im going to have to go back to basics like you lot say and try a few things which have been brought up and hopefully time, effort, commitment will bring rewards to both myself and the dog. i will keep all updated on his progress if theres any
  14. who says anything about suprized?? all i am after is a few tips off experienced lurcher men is that ok ?? one thing i defo have is time so he will certainly get that thanks all who replied
  15. what do you do if the pup will not retrieve a dummy at all ? myn retrieves balls, toys etc give him a rabbit skin and thats it he will not give it up for anything! im desperate to get to the bottom of the problem i will give him all the time that is needed because i want him a 100% on the lamp but my methods are not working in the slightest.
  16. cheers for your thoughts guys! its a hard one because hes 100% retrieving balls, toys etc and is a pretty obidient pup but obviously something isnt right cos his brother is bringing them straight back and myn is the complete opposite maybe he just isnt ready yet and i should leave him for a month or so and try again. treats dont make a diffrence to him and walking away means he just follows on but will not leave the rabbit nor come any closer than 15yards from me,
  17. i have exactly the same problem with my 9month old bull greyhound who retrieves balls, toys anything until he caught a rabbit and it was like hunting him to try and get the rabbit back, he was totally ignorant towards me, ive tried taking treats with me and all he wants to do is rag the rabbit all over the field maybe he needs to mature alot more its just so annoying that he is running the lamp perfect and taking rabbits with ease just that part of his trade that is lacking.
  18. i have a 9month old bull greyhound which i have just started on the lamp, i have done everything with him which i have done with previous dogs which have turned out credible dogs! took him out with experienced dogs, got him used to the lamp etc and he runs the beam champion and i cant fault his effort and ability to strike his quarry (rabbits at the moment) in which he has hardly missed a one. The problem starts once he has caught he will not bring it anywere near me and will not give it up, he plays with it in typical puppy fashion running away when approched and not listening or taking any b
  19. had the same thing happen to a mates pup, which he made a splint from a bit of tubing to keep the tail pretty straight which had to be tight enough to stop the dog from biting it off done the trick but a young dog heels alot better than older dogs and a tail injury should be treated straight away but obviously a vet will tell you if its likely the dog will need an operation, hope all goes well for you both
  20. bf goodridge all terrains aint let me down yet
  21. which roof mounted lamps would you lot recommend?
  22. this was my pick and is a little smasher! these dogs were bred from the finest and who ever does take the last will not be disapointed
  23. thanks for the replys, i dont agree with the fact people think that lurchers should be kept outside only either! they make great pets i no of many people who love there lurchers for there nature just as much for there ability in the field including me, the problem iam having is the fact most of what i have read on here about bull x s is they seem to be purely used as tools in the field which again as i mentioned previously i dont have a problem with just want to no can they do the job of being a nice household animal to. its nice to see they are as the pic above proves
