  1. Well, the missus is using it for everything now. She's had a quote to fit a towbar so she can go get the animal feed in it. As for its performance 2-up, I ain't no lightweight, and even with the OH in, it still pulls well, even up hills. FYI If you have someone stand on the chassis at the back, it wheelies like crazy! As for the 'Busa engine........ I'm considering getting another and having a tinker. Previous attempts have included a Tomos moped fitted with a Pulse Jet Engine! And I have a feeling a good v twin, poss suzuki, will drop in nicely. It's the bike clubs "run what y
  2. Ha! Well after a coupla nights without visiting the site I see I have a couple of comments. 0-60? I don't think so! It'll do about 50mph as standard, and beleive me, that's fast enough. It gets to 30mph as fast as anything around town tho', used it extensively for local use. Real lamping involves falling in ditches and getting caught in barbed wire? I remember that, then I bought a torch! I have found that most fields are equippped with a "gate" which enables vehicles to come and go as they please. Tho' why do farmers always put them in the muddiest part of the field?
  3. No 5 isn't right, she would've gone into most shops more than once. Started off in gap, picked up the pair of jeans she wanted and hid them at the back of the rail until every other shop had been checked in case they were cheaper.
  4. I'm just outside St. Austell Elmer, do you live local then?.... I must have a good scout around.... The other thing I want to look into is a wind turbine.... It blows a hoolie up on the ridge that we live on, and I'm sick of the electric bills we're getting We're down near Redruth, not sure of places up your way, but they do take some looking for. My wife keeps on about a wind turbine, but until they get simpler and cheaper, it's just out of reach for us.
  5. We had loads of problems trying to find good farm shops. They're a complete rip off % of the time. We'll settle for a greengrocer that sell seasonal British produce, local if possible. There's one in Perranporth and a reasonable farm shop that grow their own near Hayle. We got our new polytunnel yesterday, so it looks like the weekend's gonna be busy! We also rear our own Chooks for eggs and the table as well as a turkey and a couple of geese. (chicks and goslings available soon!) We have also just got a couple of porkers to try. It doesn't matter if you stop using supermarkets all togeth
  6. You hit the nail on the head there. You pop into Tesco for a loaf of bread and leave £30 lighter! I always had a basket of crap that I didn't need. Multiply that by the 2-3 times a week I'd pop in on the way home from work and you're losing big style!
  7. What's the difference between a Kipper and a Paki? One has red eyes, brown oily skin and smells. The other's a fish.
  8. 6 months ago we made a family decision to stop using supermarkets. It was about the time that dairy farmers made the news with record suicide and bancruptcy rates. It is BLOODY hard! It's not until you stop using them that you realise your dependancy. We started with the usual stuff, using a local butcher, baker and greengrocer. That bit wasn't so hard with better quality, local produce for (very surprisingly)much less than the supermarkets charge. It's only when you get onto tinned and cleaning products that you feel the squeeze. We've found that using fresh as opposed to tinned is both
  9. That's it, it's all over! The missus has found the youngest's car seat fits in it. She went to the butchers and greengrocers in it today. Oh woe! I'll have to sell my bike and buy another.
  10. Beats getting cold and wet? I've just done 30 odd miles in it this evening just for a laugh, but I'm definately on the chilly side. The grin on my face is still frozen in place! There are very few of these about, I've seen them from £1k for an 8 year old non road registered one upwards. I paid £1600 for my 4 year old with loads of extras. If I see another at this price I will be sorely tempted. Keep your eyes open and if one comes along at the right price, either buy it or let me know and I will.
  11. I've recently taken possesion of an 'o4 Qpod sport. I know you probably haven't heard of it, but I've had a hankering for one for a while now. Only 2 wheel drive, just a 340cc single cylinder engine, but what a machine! I've been plodding it around some bogged up fields and up some crazy inclines around the clifftops here in Cornwall and it hasn't even hesitated. The big knobbly tyres just bite and push it on. Being left hand drive and open sided and topped, I think this will be the vehicle of choice for lamping from now on. My 12 year old daughter is already pretty good at driving it. Th
  12. Low tide was 6.55. Got there at 7pm fishing the rising tide. Used sandeel, mackarel and rag on there own and in various combos. Unusual to catch nowt as had up to 30+ per session at same mark before! Nick
  13. It's actually a 3 bearded rockling. Usually very small and found around the rocks. Ugly looking critter! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/pages/t...edrockling.html
  14. Me and a couple of mates spent this evening fishing off of "fly cellars" in Newquay. To add a bit of variety I took a couple of collapsable crab pots to throw in. All I had to show for 4 hrs of cold, windy dilligence was 1 crab caught on the line, even hooked in the mouth! When I pulled in my pots I had 5 rockling. Whats that all about? My mate caught a 1lb 6oz rockling tho' and is sure he's beaten the club record. Roll on summer!
  15. I have 2 rescued greyhounds. I've had Emma for 6 years and Dave for about 5 years. Neither of them had been in a house before and stairs were a nightmare. I lived in a flat for a while and had to carry Emma up and down for days! On that subject, while out walking she would cower and cry every time we got to a stile until I carried her over. That all came to an end when I found her ON TOP OF THE STOVE eating a saucepan of spag bol! They are definately food orientated and always came back when called, right from the start. We have a severly disabled daughter who was only 1 yr old when we got Emm
  16. Thank you all for your advice. We went to Helston Gunsmiths today and we saw a s/h Lanber o/u. The missus loved it. (she likes clays and is keen to come bunny bashing asap) I was impressed with the heft and feel when comparing it to the similar s/s he had in that price range. We'll wait to see what he has when the cert falls on the mat, but I'm happier now that I've had some advice from you all. If I get an o/u, I'll just have to use it more 'til I'm used to it!! Thanks Nick
  17. I'm sorry if this has been done to death, but I couldn't find it on a search. I learned to shoot with a side by side many years ago. I'm now going to buy my 1st gun, but most are o/u. What are the advantages/disadvantages of both? What would you recommend for under £300? Thanks Nick
  18. Hi all, I've just joined this site hoping to get useful information from experienced shooters to save me making the same old mistakes. I've been shooting for over 20 yrs, all sorts from foxes with a .222, rimfire, clay pigeon and target shooting. I guess I've been set in my ways and stuck by air rifles as my own weapons of choice, mainly for reasons of shear laziness. (Licences etc) But the time has come. With ever increasing land to shoot over and our own smallholding with chickens and things, it's time to step it up a gear. I have just printed out and filled in my sgc form, got permissio
