  1. I'm in Suffolk, close to Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge.
  2. Yeah, they are pretty. The first one opened an eye today . Soo cute. I have homes for most, it would be nice to get some more working homes though.
  3. Yes, I agree. I think two pregnancies are bad for any animal in such a short space of time. I'm really hoping my jills don't come back into season after raising 22 kits between them!!
  4. Yes, 11 of each. I thought I had 12 hobs and 10 jills (I last looked at about ten days old) but I obviously misjudged one of the jills lol. They are all gorgeous (not that I'm bias or anything... ). I have picked a couple I want to keep but I have about four kits still needing homes.
  5. Aww, they are gorgeous. We only have one albino in our lot and I have to say I'm tempted to keep him - although dh wants to keep a couple of jills.
  6. Hobs Jills I've been let down by someone who intended to have some of the kits so I do have some available if anyone here would be interested - for varying blood lines for instance. The kits come from good, unrelated bloodlines and the mum's are good hunters - haven't taken dad out much yet to be sure. All the parents are very, very friendly and handled by my two year old (obviously supervised) and she's never been nipped by any of them. My older children are now handling the kits. I'm in Suffolk, close to Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge but willing to travel a reason
  7. All three are lovely natured too. I'm hoping the kits will take after them in that way.
  8. Whole litter during a spring clean of their home.
  9. There are two litters in the same nest. The parent combination is sandy/silver and sandy/polecat. This one just seems different to all the others, the others that seem to be going sandy are much lighter.
  10. Some pics of the kits.. one of them is a really strange colour - you can see its back in one of the following pics. It has a white head (very faint mask compared to the darker ones) and neck but a tawny brown body. Any idea what colour she'll turn out?
  11. Okay... the kits are now 3 weeks today and have started to eat meat over the last couple of days. I've noticed that at the moment the jill's keep pulling them away from it and back to the nest - which I assume they'll stop doing soon. (I guess it could also be because I'm watching them and the jills are being protective). Also I have 22 kits in the same nest, how is the best way to approach feeding meat to ensure they all get a good share of it? As they've only just turned 3 weeks I assume it's a bit early to take them out of the nest to feed them meat but when should I start to do so? Whe
  12. Of twenty-two I have homes lined up for fifteen. Looking for homes for the rest, although we'll be happy to keep any that are left.
  13. When one of ours escaped we informed all the neighbours and took the others for walks in the area she'd been spotted by a local farmer (quite a way from the house too!) in the hope she'd pick up their scent. Eventually she came back on her own accord two weeks later. She had a tick and some fleas but other than that was in pretty good condition. She'd made no attempt to escape since... lol.
  14. Our local independent butcher keeps back old meat for dogs, I've already got a fair bit of liver and offal from him which I'm feeding the jills at the moment, mixed with other meat bits. He's gives us a couple of bags free when I get my own meat from him. I've found only independent butchers will do so though, not chains. I will hunt around locally and see what else I can find. I don't really want to start the kits on dry food if I can help it. Thanks for all the ideas .
  15. Aww, they look like they're enjoying that rabbit!
  16. Thanks for the ideas . This is the first time I've raised kits so I want to do it properly and have kits anyone would want to take home at the end of it (iywim).
  17. Another problem with taking him out at the moment is that our hob is a new addition this spring so we have no idea how well he works. He's pretty lively though so I have high hopes that he'll do well with the jills.
  18. Oh, that's interesting, I thought they looked too dark for silver and would be sandy! I didn't realise sandy's look so pale early on. I've not watched a litter grow before so it's fascinating seeing how quickly they change.
  19. Also, should the jills come along too when the kits come into play or should they just enjoy the rest lol.
  20. I want to give my kits to their new homes being as friendly as possible. Does anyone have any advice how to work with very young kits (pre 8 - 12 weeks). They're two weeks now and the jills are okay with us stroking them (as long as they get a bit of fuss too!). I just wondered how best to proceed. There are a lot of them so hubby suggested an 'in and out' box lol so they all get handled the same amount as they grow (not yet, but when they can leave the nest more and come indoors to play). Is there a way to discourage very young kits from nipping hands or is it a point of doing the same a
