  1. I have a day driven game at the end of November,on a smallish scale ,that will include a drive from an inland pond that holds a few duck .Now I understand that I must use a lead substitute . I know that the cheapest option will be steel however the gun that I shall be using for the day is my Browning 525 This isn,t actually proofed for steel I assume because of the lack of fleur de lys stamp ,from what I understand I can still use a modest steel load through it .However this particular gun is fixed choke 1/4 3/4 and that is as I understand to be the stumbling block .Is there any other lead

  6. I have had the Urika Version for a short while and have put 600 carts through it mostly on clays , its the business. Cycles from 24g no problem but yet to put anything larger than 36g through it ,very pointable, and well made ,you cannot go wrong.

  8. If your talking about technical guitar playing ,scales and so forth then someone like Joe Satriani , but playing with soul ,passion and for the fact he was 20 yrs ahead of his time it can only be Hendrix followed by jimmy page . Then that slash guy can play a bit as well.

  10. Well peeps I went and had a look at the Urika this morning ,and he was true to his word ,immaculate condition been very well looked after , 3 different size gel pads to change the length of pull and several shims to change the drop at comb and cast, all in a hard case complete with 5 chokes . He,s never to keen to have a deal with money off but he will always do a deal with carts, oils, gunslips etc. So as me and the lad were off to have a go at the clays anyway the Urika came along for the ride ,we had a round each then went to the clubhouse for breakfast ,We then took the Urika for a round
  11. Thanks for the help guys ,He has put it by for me ,and unless its a pig which I doubt it,ll probably be coming home with me .This will be my first semi and it ticks all the boxes actually, just a bit daunted by the cleaning of it ,as I had heard its a bit of a bugger.
  12. Does any one use a Beretta Urika , I had a nose around the gunshop with a view into buying something cheapish to use for a bit of rough/pigeon shooting ,as I can get a bit precious carting my ou,s around the fields through hedgerows etc, They had a new Urika 2 synthetic with the K off system in the shop but really too much money for a rough gun ,just over the grand mark I think, any ways after talking to the guy he mentioned that there was a guy coming in for a new one of these and was using his synthetic Urika 1 as a part ex ,if your interested says the shop manager I,ll give you a call
  13. Glad to here you got it sorted thats cheap shooting.

  16. Your forgetting the original post it went something like this ... what would be the best gun for a 13 year old to start with for rabbit shooting , and for you to suggest 12g to a 13yr old who has possibly never shot before shows that you know even less than the rest of your posts suggest you do , so stop thinking you know it all and listen and you might learn something from people who have been hunting twice the time you are old stop talking s###e

  20. Since my episode with the chicken killer ,which I managed to sort out with the 12g I had a chat with the farmer whose land backs on to mine ,as I originally sought permission in case I had to take charlie out in his field,as it happened I didn,t have to but never the less decided to take him a bottle of scotch just to say thanks ,Stayed for about an hour having a natter and the upshot is that he wants me to have a go at the foxes over his 800 acres great but i,m certainly not going to be killing great numbers with a 12 bore .Have read all the posts concerning what the best calibre is for fox
  21. go for bigger power gun higher kill rate Who told you that, more shot agreed, My 14 yr old son is a demon with his 20 shooting a 24g load he will kill anything that i will ,and regulary hits 75-78 ex 100 at sporting do not be fooled by the " little 20 bore"
  22. Just to say thanks for the advice all, The thieving ginger fecker had really pissed me off. I had it all planned took the gun from the cabinet and a handfull of BB fox medicine . I walked up to the end of the garden and the wind was in my face so far so good , I lent against a big old oak finishing a smoke taking stock before concealing myself . It was a blackbird that gave the game away for charlie boy initially , and then I saw him coming down the hedgerow about 100yds , I backed away slowly and tucked myself away . The blackbird was still mobbing , Christ! that sounded really close I sho

  25. This is my first post although have been mooching around on here for some time . Had charlie in my garden this evening hit one of my chickens not 20 metres from the house The dogs were laying in the conservatory and went ballistic thus scaring it off It managed to kill the bird but didn,t take it away .this is my plan I live very rural and have primed the nearest to us about impending noise but have tied dead chicken to a small tree so it will not be able to take it away ,This is where I hit it from my hiding place 25 metres away nowadays I am just a clay shooter but have half a box of el
