  1. Couldnt agree more with the end of your statement there has got to be more of out there who are willing to help the young ones. If there is enough of us how about the mods deleting all the talk and pinning the names of those who are willing to help at the top.
  2. We were 10 miles outside grantown on spay

  4. Well ive just got back from a week in scotland and unfortunatly it was nothing like we were told it was going to be. The most rabbits caught all week by a harris hawk was 8 and they were caught by my female rio. It was that bad some people only caught one all week. The lodge was beautiful as were the veiws andthe surroiunding area. This trip was not very organised as on day one we had no where to go because no one had checked with the farmers . Well i was on holiday so i ignored all this and just enjoyed myself. I saw hundreds of buzzards and even managed to see a wild golden eagle and a red
  5. Id take you to find some duck mate but there arnt many round me.
  6. Nice one mate Good for you.
  7. I know what your saying jasper there are a few people out there who didnt exactly go about what they do the correct way there for they have ended up with a (to put it bluntly) shit bird and they have no one else but themselves to blame. We can only hope that they have realised this and got the help they need. All i am trying to do with this post is give people the oppertunity to have somone local to talk to if needed. They dont have to take them out or anything like that but i know how i felt until i met my mentor i would have loved to have somone local who could have nipped round if despretly
  8. I have noticed on a couple of furums that there are more and more people getting into falconry, which is great the only problem i have noticed is the lack of people willing to say come and have a day with me. The idea of theis thread is for people to put names up who would be willing to take the risk and offer their services to begginers. Im not saying you should take them on your best land because we all know there is along way to go befor you start hunting, but offer a couple of hours a week to go through the ropes with peple and help them along. you nevere know you might find a new hunting
  9. Nice one will keep at em mate. Will have to have a day out some time.

Well i just thaught id introduce rio my female harris hawk. This is her second season and she is realy on form, she takes feather at 1lb 13 3/4 oz and will take fur at 1lb 14 1/4 oz. We have had a good start to the season with 4 rabbits, 6 pheasants a squirel and a stoat. A short bit about last season, we all thaught that rio was a male with an entering weight of 1lb 8oz, she took her first hare at 1lb 10oz and finished the season at 1lb 13oz. So before i put her down to moult i got her DNA and it turned out that she was a female to alot of peoples supprise. We are going to scotland on sunday

  15. Went out for a dig on sunday with young brock. Found a good looking place with 5 holes didnt look too deep so we thaught it would be ideal for one of yb pups. Entred becks and she flew in, started baying fairly quickly. Got the bellman and flint out only to find out she was just over 4 feet deep. We started digging imediatly as this was her first dig. Broke through at about 4 feet to find the dog had got hold. Split her from her quarry and let it fly for another day. This little bitch is too hard for her own good and took some stick for, she lost one tooth and loosened another two but a few we

Your friend is right there is no current licensing needed in the uk to keep birds of prey. however certain species of birds do require certain paperwork to prove where they came from but this comes with the bird and it is proof of breeding not a license to keep the bird.
