  1. Okay thanks mate. Ive been looking at the Deben Li-Ions in CMW. Does the ampage have an effect on the lamp or is it just how long the battery will last? They are all 12v but different ampage. Cheers Gaz.
  2. Can you buy the striker 170 and then get pretty much any Li-Ion battery? Anyone know where you can get Li-Ion batteries at a good price? I might buy a Striker lamp 2nd hand as there seem to be loads around in for sale section. Then buy battery new. Cheers Gaz
  3. What do you reckon to this kit for a first lamp? Im guessing thats everything i need there, lamp, battery, shoulder strap. Is that about the right price? Im not looking to get one for 6 months or more as my pup is only young but just pricing up. Cheers Gaz http://www.ianhodgefieldsports.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=236
  4. Thanks for the reply mate. Will look at slippery elm powder. How long do you reckon before i can try him with breast of lamb again? Leave it until hes 6 months or so?
  5. On Monday evening my pup passed a bit of blood in a very loose stool. It also had mucous in it. He seemed fine in himself and after a quick search on here everything pointed to colitis. It made sense really as he has only been with me for a week and has gone from having mostly dry food with raw every few days to having raw diet 3 meals a day. Ive been giving massive variety, tripe, egg, fish, lamb mince, breast of lamb, steak, offal, cooked veg mix twice per week etc. I always intended on keeping him on a dry meal a day while a pup but obviously with all this nice food about, he won'
  6. Thanks. I willl have to check out hyperdrug. I've been told I can get panacur and drontal off there too. Does anyone know anymore about the Garlic? I'm all for natural aids where possible. Even if it's aswell as frontline or similar. Gaz

  8. Thanks Bunnys. How often do you use frontline? And how effective is it as a preventative? Thanks Gaz
  9. Just wondering what products are good for flea prevention? Are the treatments such as frontline etc for prevention or for getting rid of them? I've read alot about feeding garlic to keep fleas away, does it work? And how often and how much? Also do flea collars keep them away or don't really work? My dogs in the house so if I can prevent fleas then it will be better than trying to get rid of them. Cheers, Gaz
  10. I always liked the sound of a Bull/Grey x Collie/Grey in the past. The pup ive had is 9/16 Grey, 4/16 Whippet, 3/16 Saluki. He has deffinitely got enough brains from what I've seen so far. The sire is 3/4 Grey 1/4 Saluki and in my opinion pretty much perfect. He is thick set and I thought he had got bull in him when I first saw him. And his stamina is outstanding.
  11. Thanks for the info casso and everyone else. JF1970 thanks mate. Will PM him :-)
  12. Haha. He would love some company mate but I don't fancy becoming a chew toy for another! Lol.

  14. 44david44 - thanks very much for that manual. Will give it a good read. Cheers. Casso - I will start playing tug with the toy, will save my hands from getting ripped up! Lol. I didn't know if playing tug with it would hinder with the "give" command, if he thinks he can keep hold of it and rag it. But I guess he will enjoy playing. Thanks all Gaz
  15. Thanks for the replys. Will get that DVD dotty. Rosy/Casso - thanks for advice. Is it normal that all he wants to do is bite me? Not had an 8 week old pup before. Any dogs I've had have been 11 week plus and a little calmer. Thanks again, Gaz.
  16. Like it says on the tin... How do you train and enter a pup? I don't mean down to fine details but what do you try to teach and at what age? And ideally what would a pup be doing at say 10 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and so on? Some say start basic commands ASAP whereas some say let the pup just be a pup and bond with it. I know everyone will have different methods so will interesting to see what people say. Also when would you start to stockbreak and introduce to livestock? At the moment my pup is 8 weeks, sits and retrieves on command. But getting nowhere with "give" afte
  17. No worries matey. I don't see it as "hijacking". Don't mind anyone having there say :-)
  18. Thanks again or replys. I will obviously have to accept it like anyone else if anything does happen to my dog. But I had him to work him so the "what if" wont get in the way of that. Nice pics Aaron and dandi3 :-) Gaz.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. Some great info and advice has been given. Glad I asked the question. Gaz.
  20. How many are left now mate? I thought they would of been snapped up by now.
  21. Natter - brilliant post mate. Thank you. Colli/Grey - I see what your getting at about trying to not get as attatched as you were with your pup that died. I will deffinitely gutted if I ever loose my pup. I think it would be impossible to not bond with your working dog regardless of living in or out though. Gaz
  22. Keep us updated mate. I cant wait to get out with my pup next year :-)
  23. I personally think he may be a little late in his training there. I've got my 8 week pup retrieving a toy rabbit and he does similar to yours. Sometimes rags it like mad, sometimes doesn't want to give it to me. But % of the time he brings it back and gives it me with little fuss. Just keep at mate. Will be interesting to see what others say. Gaz
  24. How many of you had experienced serious accidents in the field? I don't mean the odd cut on barbed wire or a minor running injury, I mean something that has amost lost you the dog or worse still killed the dog? I was looking into insurance the other day, I've decided to go for it but was just wondering how often working dogs get seriously hurt? Gaz.
  25. Lamping lad - wiping down a muddy dog is part of owning a dog for me. I always give him a quick wipe before coming into the living room after munching his BARF as he is usually covered in blood and bits orb meat :-) Mark and Mooney - thanks for replies aswell. I'm glad alot of people don't think being a pet will affect it working. Gaz
