night night rabbits.
baldockbanks courser replied to baldockbanks courser's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I went saturday day when there was only a light dusting on the ground and it was hard going so I took a claw hammer to put the poles in with.I didnt use it once last night weve now had 5 inches of snow and I reckon it must protect the ground a bit. dont think purse net pegs would have gone in. poles can be moved one way or the othere till you find a softer patch. Long nets all the way for me now! a lot more rugged than i thuoght a couple of times "ada" hit them chasing rabbits and with a little straitining out they were good to go again. -

if i could only post pictures id show you but iv tried and just cant get to grips with it! -
Im not new to ferreting but have never herd of ferreting at night till yesterday on here. crept out with lurcer bitch, Q set long net my bruv and a pair of asbestos boots each (due to how hot it is on this peice of ground !) Couple of hours later 16 clean bunnys. all bolted no lay ups and we lost about five as i havent had much practice with L nets. realy enjoyed it even though it was -7 , dont think id do it with out the extra light from the snow and the full moon. tried nicely to get permission on these open warrens but the farmers a reall pig. THATLL HOLD HIM !

So just because we choose to support rescues, means we can not be on a hunting site or even enjoy the sport - get real, and for your info we dont bang on about rescues unless your blind this thread is about rescues and was started by a bloke. And wether your dogs put in the effort or not for you, they should still get your time and care whilst they are in your care, or do you just abandon the ones that dont put in the effort for you? And by the way - i am on some rescue sites, same as quite a few that are on this site are. An animal in my care will ALWAYS BE CARED FOR but wh

Dont want to put every bed whippet owners back up but... before I start 13 years ago I breed a 26 inch saluki lurcher to a M drews bed whippet alfred as you can tell by his name he was a typical example of the breed. My bitch pup took back after him in looks and finnished at 19- 20 inches. she served me well on rabbits taking 10 - 15 rabbits on a good few nights. If she came up a bigger animal as I hoped for Im sure she would have been better again on rabbits and more versatile. What is the point in purpouslie breeding a small bed whippet when a whippet will do the same job? A 23

you may call me sexist but have a look back at the number of women who keep banging on about these rescues.( Not all women do ) PENNY TAYLOR gave me a bit of stick for being macho when i laugthed at her saying she doesnt like to hear a terreir "mixing it" with its quary under ground!! Yes I Like hunting and as long as its done as quick as possible even the kill at the end. this is ment to be a ..... HUNTING SITE FOR HUNTING PEOPLE and thats what I am. Iv been down in the cold doing my animals waters this morning because they deserve my time for the effort they put in for me. WHY

harsh but true. all the r.s.p.s.a do is raid british bird keepers sheds and pester terreir lads. i bet all the softies and women who keep on about rescues have a bet on the grand national? do you know why all the fields arnt full of slow and old thorough breeds? because they need the room for good urns and the others are shot. animals are animals on the bright side thell be plenty of rabbits about for genuine working people cause 2 bob pets wont take many on there outings.

dont want to upset anyone but they not one thing or the other. a whippet would do a better job on rabbits. I had a whippet bed x sal lurcher which i liked. i just think claud gs bed whips are a noveltie dog. why not go for bed grey or bed whip x grey would do better on lamped and ferreted rabbits if thats what you wnt

well said they are a monie making racket as for the man with the power to no what a man as had in is kennels without knowing them ,don,t talk like a prick and go work on your ego is that in english ?
-
and what will a licence acheive apart from people with money and nice kennels breeding dogs? do they tell you what kind of dog you can breed no. we live in a hitler state as it is we dont need more of it. some of the best dogs that ever have been breed were in garden sheds in BACK STREETS! ! next door to the abortionists and the tattoist. I know a murderer in prison and hes got yorkshire terreir someones being a bit snobby there.

people who have a high turn over of dogs never have anything decent . and never will. i look at some girls with 3or 4 dogs on the fields shitting every were and think if it was £50 a year for a dog license in 10 years time there wont be many need rescuing ,it would have to be enforced like the council traffic wardens do with the parking silly man. iv had a few dogs and they dont all stay. out of the ten or fithtenn dogs iv owned over the years iv had 3 i bet your dogs could not have lived with. if you keep lurchers as pets then you can keep them forever good or bad. Mine have to ern there

why ask for some ones oppinion? all you were after was everyone to pat you on the back and say youv done the right thing. .. well i told you what I think and you didnt like it. yesterday you asked how to spot a hare! and i explained what Iv lernt from when i used to give my decent old bitch 3 to 4 runs 3 times a week. youv been in the job two mins and your telling me I wont put the time and effort in! I didnt want to cause its wasnt worth it. dont cry when the brake causes your dog probs down the line. you keep to your pets. -
