    I'm not sure a greyhound would do that mate? Lol A saluki clearly has hunting brains, isn't that all you really need when running hares?

    But why would they do that if the saluki is canine perfection for hunting game like hares, deer, gazelle? I do agree with mC in as much as men crossed what they had at the time, if the gene pool of saluki's was very small or non-existent then the natural step would be to cross with a greyhound, or a lurcher.

I get your point about them being suited to the slop due to them running heavy going sand in Arab land but it's not because they have adjusted to our land through centuries of selective breeding. Lol I'd say most that are here are down off relatively recent imports?
