    Very typey pal ??? I ran with half crossed deerhounds for a good few seasons the best imho was the ones thrown to greyhound in build but had everything deerhound added those ones were perfect hounds ?

    Again pal one million percent YES a lot of the Saluki types X's and pures aren't first season dogs takes them a while to get boxing together and others run head up from the off ? Worst thing for that type is to be re homed and I stand by that it's something in their makeup some of the best Hounds I've seen were not too clever till second season on the land and many would have given up on them Another thing I had to do with terrier men not just running dogs and that was often gameness would skip a generation have not seen it apply in lurchers very often perhaps because of Breeding be

    You have it in one Dodger outcross every few generations then straight back in to the line I honestly think that's the secret given to the right lads and it works from everything I've seen bless ya bud ? Think if lads followed your advice many hounds would go from strength to strength ?

    I like this one Charti very alike the breed the lads I know in Yorkshire keep I can remember runts being sold on imho those smaller types were the best of the bunch of like to see more being bred that were not tall same as the pure salukis they are far too big for me ? Love the deerhounds they have a lot to offer good noses good brains and good feet and when it comes to thickness of skin they have to be the thickest of all the pure sighthounds..     I bet there is cruise in her she's a lovely parti coloured bitch ? I like neck rough she has too not pure but not far off for sure I bet she's a clever hound too.     I used my own dog that had bad injury's Shadow but why I did was it was my fault he got injured I ran him on hills local and his speed was way too fast for turning on that gradient he had a bad wrist injury and shoulder injury but was never lame when healed up he adjusted to his injury's and I put him to a slower bitch I owned like you rightly say breeding is a lottery for sure the best from a litter may not be the best at producing we just have to take a punt .     Another I agree with pal they have to have generations of tested ancestors to be any good yes you get freaks but they often don't produce seen it a lot and had to deal with it a few times in my own life. I favour the pures but only certain ones to be fair they have if bred right been off lead killing for forty plus years and are definitely not thick nor lacking anything but it is the man behind the lead that also makes a massive difference I gift pups I've bred I'd sooner have them in a home I know they will thrive ?

    The Arabs have taken many UK dogs back I have seen four of Hamads hounds run they lacked a gear for here in the UK but better turner's and more stamina than our UK hounds I don't believe in the DNA rubbish to be honest a sighthound is a sighthound they one million percent cannot tell Afghan Azawak and Sloughi from Saluki I have friends that do this for a living and I think Hamads hounds have a fair bit of all sorts in them with all respect he's a puppy miller no more no less ?

    I didn't pal but I spent time with the Tolney lane lot from.mid seventies to mid nineties I still buy me winter meat from end of Tolney lane at crowdens knacker yard I had meat business there for a decade I knew a good few lads old Hughie Weaver Gypsy Jack the Callendines and the black Gypsys Devon Watson and Roy Porter were all good friends along with a good few more They were a good lot unlike many today lads you could trust ?

    That's well interesting chartpolski ? I don't like KC I think it stands for killing club ? Only way to keep any strain going imho is to add an outcross then go back to the original line to keep what you had in the first place. The salukis to me are just middle East lurchers and the resurrection of the deerhound makes them northern UK lurchers to be fair.     Smooth or feathered pal there is no.difference if u have a pair of scissors ? I cut all my lots tails and ears in winter a tail can hold a pound weight of plough and a tail is a balance nothing more nothing less with a running dog ?
