  1. did he mention whether they still had any drive at all? or was that bred out of them ?
  2. thats a gutter, i feel if they were done right and toughened up with breeding they could be be brillaint pocket sized little lurchers but i cant see them being worth the effort
  3. i love whippets and lurchers, just the allergy problem that stopped us from getting a whippet, although that can be fixed with a bedlington whippet cross. shame the italians are so shite
  4. I was out a wander with the pup yesterday and came across two beautiful retired greyhounds. I've always loved them and these are probably the first I've seen in person. Unfortunately, due to their size and the allergy problem we wouldn't ever be able to own greyhounds. We could have the smaller, hypoallergenic Italian greyhounds though. Are they any use at catching anything? I've heard they're fragile, could this be fixed by breeding them with a hardier dog like a terrier or similar?
  5. nah man, she's a pet before she's a worker and if a pink harness saves her bother with her neck then thats how it is
  6. slowly trying it but was hurting her neck too much while learning to walk on lead
  7. Asked the same thing in the terrier forum, if you could only have one dog for everything what would it be?
  8. I know all dogs have went up in price nowadays but a guy a few flats down from me paid 15 GRAND for two english bulldog pups. Went online to verify it and he's spot on. They all cost around that. Where the f**k does that price come from? They can't work, they aren't rare and they aren't very active. Can't wrap my head around it. 15 grand worth of dogs in a flat he’s renting from the council is bonkers
  9. It can be a cross, purebreed, terrier, lurcher whatever. Say you are only allowed one dog for every job and every quarry, what would it be?
  10. its not something I'll everr do regular but i'd love to give my lass a go at it when she's older
  11. definitely they've all went soft since there's no natural predators around
  12. I don't know much about deer tbf but i would imagine the majority of them in this country are rarely ever attacked or hunted by another animal, wonder if that gives the dog an advantage
  13. young roe deer? did they bring them back? did the bushes leave any long lasting marks?
  14. Firstly, I’d like to say I know there’s a huge difference between terriers and running dogs of any kind. but I have a Lakeland pup just coming up for six months and she’s had the occasional pop at rabbits that we’ve came across on our walks. Will she ever be quick enough to get one of them? Or will she always be too slow?
  15. That’s fair enough, don’t know much about otters but I can imagine they’re a difficult animal to get a hold of
  16. Patterdale just seems to be the “perfect” terrier and can do more or less anything, but I have seen a jagd terrier used as a personal protection dog which I’ve never seen from a patterdale
  17. That’s good to know there are still working lines of english bulls, most of the ones you see now are fat lumps closer to a seal than a terrier
