  1. The best "big" game dog? Been reading about these dogs and I am begining to wonder why they are not the dog to have for foxes instead of bullXs.In the states they take coyote, in Aus they take boar and seem to take foxes for fun. Obviously having never seen 1 work I cant say too much about them, Is there a reason there not so popular or not as popular as bullXs? cheers

  7. Got The Lamper sporting dogs DVD watched it a few times and this got me wondering how quick a good lurcher will finish its fox. Im talking from the second you slip your dog to the second your satisfied the fox is no more how long on average does it take. Might also be helpful if you post the breeding of your dog. Thanks (pre-ban for the English boys I suppose )
  8. What age did you consider yourself to be in your prime? In terms of dedication, amount of time spent out in the field and success rate etc. . My old man reckons about 22-30.What are your best memories of good hunts or good dogs? Any old pics, stories etc. appreciated.

  11. Nice dog Was it a digging dog or a bolter? Any dog I have ever had has been a companion as well as a hunting dog and would hate the thought of having a dog always locked up or on a lead when its not working. My experience however is limited to gundogs so a little different from terriers People have said they have the dog collared up when out bushing just incase I was always taught that it was dangerous for a dog to wear a collar when working cover
  12. Nice pics That deerhoundXbull is a belter How have you found the cross in terms of temprement, trainability etc. Take it he's fond of the red stuff
  13. Not everyone in gun clubs is against lurcher men me and my dad often stand and have a chat with the lurcher boys we meet when out rough shooting although they usually say they are after foxes .
  14. In any of the Warrener DVDs I have the lurchers seem to make shorter work of a fox? Even the ones that havent been pepered with a shotgun first
  15. Orderd The Lampers Sporting Dogs and watched it the other night. There was a few things in it that shocked me a bit. I know very little about luchers but from reading on here and other forums what are described as "arse biters" are not what you want in a good fox dog. In this DVD there are bits of footage that show foxes being picked up ,shook, dropped and even dragged around by their back end very much alive . I know some people will say that's lurcher work and its not for softies but I just didnt like seeing the fox trying to fend of 2 dogs. I got the feeling that it was due to the fact the
  16. Just stick the ferrets in a pillow case job done Only messing
  17. Can a terrier be used for bushing and ground work or is it too dangerous and impractical e.g terriers getting to ground in dangerous spots or a terrier going to ground and ruining the plans for a days bushing . I guess it depends heavily on what you want your dog to do down below and what sort of ground you hunt? If your dog is used for bolting from earths to guns or lurchers is it ok? Making the generalisation that bolting dogs are softer( ) and may only stay to ground for 10-15 mins at a time and dont recieve as much punishment as digging dogs. When a digging dog is to ground its to ground
  18. The Lamper sporting dogs worth a buy? Also is there much footage of the GWP X on it. Feel free to recomend any better DVDs.
