I wish I had taken the time to learn how to snare..  it would be nice to set a few and then go drop a net  collecting snares on the way back..

When I tap the peg on my boot the rabbits in the fields next to me would get up and go...

Give it ago mate its pretty addictive,  I started not long ago and although I was trying to snare on shite ground ( grass to high no clear runs etc etc ) its pretty addictive,  snared rabbits phesant and a hare since starting and it's a nice skill to have , will be doing plenty more come season ,

You’re as helpful as you were the last time I needed advice.  I’ll not ask again ??

Bit blunt but what he said is right you did answer your own question , a puppies dog is not mature enough to be taking fox , and most dog aggressive mouthy lurchers I've seen were dog shite on teethed quarry , him been submissive will not affect his working specific quarry unless he's a nervous wreck , give him time mature and if someone tells you he should be doing teeth by 12 month or 18 month etc etc ain't worth listening to , all dogs diffrnet ans mature difrently

Hi been given a long net it's about 58 foot long no poles just two end pins attached wondered if any body near willington Derby could show me how to set it cheers ?

Need cut your self some pegs mate , bout 3ft long out hazel , as thick as your finger will do nothing to thick as when it’s seasoned it’s solid , you have a traditional long net  where it is a net with two end pins , you then put a hazel peg every 5 yards , do quick google serch on setting traditional longnet and some pic# and a video of tericil from off this site should come up .

Hi lads and lasses quick question for use any input much appreciated.

I have a 15 month old springer he's mad to hunt will retrieve a tennis ball no bother won't lift a dummy ,tried him on cold game he runs to it then plucks feathers off it , shot a pigeon for him he done the same thing .I'm just wondering is there any way of getting him out of this or is he just a hard mouthed dog ?

Thats not hard mouthed that's a confidence issue,  like hilly said , go back to a soft dummy something that he will pick up and play with , then move on to difremt dummies , I find with spaniels they can get obsessed with dummy types so what I do is buy two of the same type dummys then ad fur , wings , to them at later date , don't use pigeons for training young pups the feathers are enough to put off adult dogs , when the time comes to use a pigeon then put it in a woman tights so the feathers don't come off but all the scent and reel is still there , give the dog a couple days off just have fun with it then start again , some old socks rolled up in to a sausage shape make good first dummies , then when you move on just ad 1 wing then two etc confidence is key when training young dogs

I get that and totally understand folk who do it.......running away from the problem is all part of the nature versus nurture instinct and its fascinating to watch it play out because its human instinct that cannot be controlled.....some people struggle to run away from danger in exactly the same way that others struggle to go towards danger......yes it comes at a cost,be that family, finance or simple pain and suffering......but to quit on your own people to me is the ultimate sin as a man.

Pain is temporary but quitting lasts forever !

That's the problem tho gnash , they ain't my people , I could count " my people " on my fingers and toes ,I'm no hard man but no coward either and would never not protect my own , I just don't call the population of the UK my people and I'd have  o problem waving good by to this sess pit of Pakis blacks polish Romanian etc etc this country and its people don't care about me and me about it

  8. No expert but that doesn’t look like a fresh wound , had a dog with similar took it vet said that it was some form of bacteria infection that was eating tissue , bit like Alina a foot rot , I’d get some decent antibiotics in to it , clean it up dress it stop rubbish debree getting in  it then in couple days take dressing off let fresh air get to it ,, or better still trip to vets ,

i hate paying vets there scummy money making machines but sometimes a necessary evil

    No offence taken.

But, it is that easy if you want to do it and as for the quitting bit, I had the opinion that the country had quit on itself years ago but like you, that’s just me being blunt about what it think ?

Defo , England ain’t England no more and ain’t worth fighting for , if I had a decent job offer that better my family in a difrent  country I’d be gone tomorrow and wouldn’t look back ,
