More so as a pet, as I think it fits best into my life schedule. As I do live in a city.

Yeah, what Bob said above, they need company, stink and are not good as just a pet in a house. I had ferrets for around 50 years but if I was you I'd get a cat. You'll get sick of a ferret around if you don't work them.

How does the DNA testing work? To my limited knowledge a Jagd was the Nazi attempt to create a black and tan fox terrier. The fox terrier at that time is what we would now class as a Parson. So surely the DNA make up of a Jagd is the same as the DNA make up of a modern Parson? And the same DNA as a modern KC fox terrier as the show breeders created their freaks from the original working terriers that were registered in the late 19th century and they closed the gene pool.

If it had been around at the time I would loved to have had one dog in particular DNA tested. Pedigree unknown and looked like a leggy black and tan beagle. Slightly too big to work fox underground but a fantastic hunting dog above and in rocks/rubbish piles/stacks of material etc. Would have loved to have known his make up.

I'm not sure and that is a point but maybe the Jagd have something unique in it's DNA to differ from the Parsons? I wish I had my old blue whippet lurcher done, I'm sure she had some bull blood and maybe even cattle dog as she was a lot more complex and intelligent than your average whippet or staghound. They use the Jagd over here for deer and pigs mostly and while they don't appeal to me they are pretty full on terriers. The DNA was sent to Ireland to get tested, my daughter gave me the kit for Christmas and it took a couple of months. Apart from the curled tail I knew the bitch had something else in her, just her look and her serious attitude.

Anyhow a few guys said they heard the Aussies did stuff like this a while back but but weren't 100%

I've seen set ups similar on the back of utes back then, shooting chairs raised off the tray. I've never seen this on a trike though, they are notorious unstable as they are. Looks like an accident waiting to happen Wolf but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a stupid Aussie idea, lol.

Lakeland, Stafford, beagle way back and if from UK KC stuff Fox Terrier. Not intending to be cheeky but I would say most Russells have those in the mix, minus the Fox Terrier

That's what I was thinking and maybe these are taken for granted to be in Russells but she is 1/8 Jagd which over here was surprising. She is a quiet dog and has never shaken a rat, just crushes them, even big ones biting her, she has done this since 12 weeks. Doesn't matter what's in her really but I'm sort of happy it's not pug, lol.

  5. I was interested in finding out what this bitch was made up of as the curled tail had me thinking she may have pug or even basenji blood. I got her DNA tested and was surprised at the result. Before I say does anyone want to have a guess of the other breed other than the mostly Parson heritage?

Mc I've no doubt your dogs do you proud and  what you do you  keep a good yard but it's one thing running a old hare compared to anything that wants to fight back edible or teeth week in week out yours will be found wanting horses for courses

And whippets will shit all over the slugs on rabbits. Coursing dogs(slugs) compared to real hunting dogs, they aren't even comparable.

Are they head strong and stubborn or just braindead as the ones I've encountered have been thick as shit?

Their mongoloid looks don't help but I've seen very dumb bull terriers and extremely intelligent ones. The thing I don't like about most of them is the jealousy thing and is the main reason they generally can't be housed safely with other dogs when mature.

  8. One of the worst aspects about multiculturalism is the world is going to end up just one boring race/color. I think a lot of mixed race people are confused in their thinking and morals also. The Africans are the worst over here now and think nothing of raping and murdering, the jails are full of them. We used to whinge about the wogs, Italians and Greeks, little did we realize these people were a far cry from the Arabs who run the outlaw bike clubs here now and the other ones that need to go back to the jungle.

    Interesting cross.

What have lads found to be the pros with the gwp in the mix say a first cross? Would they be fast enough for bigger game?

I've seen a couple gwp imports working over the years with the guns and they are serious animals when working cover and tracking.

My mrs had two pure GWP she used on pigs, they would lug and were obviously great finders. They were very protective guard dogs as well. I'd imagine the first crosses would be useful on any game.

  10. I used to destroy every wasp nest around the house on the farm, then the house was covered in spiders every Spring and Summer. This year I left the wasps alone and there are virtually no spiders. The wasps get to know you too and never harass me but aren't so friendly to strangers.

reduce the people who are not long off state pension age it does make you think.

I think the whole covid agenda was to do with exactly that. The jabs just to seal the deal. I reckon the whole world has gone mad since this, whether it's the lockdown or the jabs but people seem a lot more aggressive and violent now.
