  1. Several good post , that's what I was hoping for hearing some of your views on this topic. Over on our side of the pond the word terrier man gets thrown around often , it seems anyone who owns a terrier classifies them selves as a terrier man. Then the others who hunt just a few times a year is another group who classifies themselves as terrier men also.
  2. Just wondering some of your thoughts on this as you guys have originated terrier work
  3. because ground hogs are backe filled in for the winter and why dig through frozen ground for a coon when all you have to do is hit some barns and ran down buildings. And the snow gets really deep in the north alot. Id rather save a bullshit day and just hit the barns and old ran down houses. When the weather is shit there bedded down..jmo.. rippem we finally agree on something lol.. Right now is great hunting for barns and the old houses at the end of February/early March the digging will be back in action. We've dug in this weather before and it's extremely tough, you'll have a lot of work t
  4. Thanks guys, appreciate all the positive comments
  5. No they don't give them no trouble , once you get to them they are nothing. Sometimes they can be in difficult spots to get to and you do a lot of work for nothing. They are definitely no kind of test
  6. Rippem I appreciate the invite but too have lots of land to hunt hogs and access to many of barns as well so no need to travel 8 hrs to hunt as I can hunt 300 acres within a mile of my home. I'll go on and extend the invite if you are looking to travel. What do I mean about lack of experience? Well anyone who post the things you do about coons tells me you have not worked many as I said in my previous post and as far as putting coons in a tree with hounds is of no interest to me. I do know hound guys that say coon don't go to ground another lack of experience on their part. Coon occupy the gro
  7. Good post naustroms, atleast you know what you are talking about. Rippem your stories are great but I think maybe you should hunt your dogs then tell us the stories as they will sound more real. When I read the things you post about hunting it just tells me you are speaking from a lack of experience. Please keep us posted on your hunt this weekend.
  8. Lonespade thanks for the invite it's very much appreciated. Hopefully a couple of us will take you up on your offer , it sounds like you have some great hunting areas to work. It's good to see guys working the dogs regardless of the game they are after. We all have our preferences of what we like to hunt, personally I like coons , but we get hogs as well.
  9. I work coons on a regular basis and in my opinion they are a very good animal , it does depend on age , size and time of the year. Coons will hibernate during the winter and when they come out of hibernation they are on the weak side but bounce back quickly. During hibernation they are very aggressive and strong. You'll hear stories from the groundhog guys that they are better , when in reality a failed coon dog has made the grade for hogs time and time again. Not all but most of our coons are very big in comparison to a lot of states , it's normal for us to get coons 25 pounds + and them ones
  10. Well it sounds like you found what you were looking for lonespade, good luck to you with your new dog. Keep us posted on it and let us know how it works out. I'm sure you had a pack of vultures trying to help you out lol..
  11. Well rich we been doing some talking so I know what you are up to. I have to wonder how is your hunting going rippem? Curious to hear how the other guys are doing from the states.
  12. Was just wondering how's the hunting been going for the others in the us ? We've gotten 6 coon 2 opossum to this point
