  1. Sorry no pics of their dogs but normally the bay dogs are walkers or cattohula (blue) though most any dog can be a good bay dog. Lotta mix breeds . Catch dogs are usually pitbulls or American bulldog. Pit bulls being the preferd in my area. Though I have seen mastifs and rotwillers used . all dogs wear tracking collars but the catch dogs are usually the only ones who wear the cut vests.
  2. Someone here wanted to see a pic of our hogs. Well some guys brought there dogs down today and I was in the area. Wasn't able to get my knife out or my AR smoking but was fun all the same. These two weight out around 350lbs each with 7inch cutters. One of the bay dogs got gut hooked but should be OK
  3. That turtle by the way was released unharmed . Pissed but unharmed.
  4. Glad to hear y'all find it interesting ! Just so y'all know we find y'all just as interesting over here in the states ! There some mink and muskrat guys who'd love to trade some connies for fenns ! Abd we have forums over here too ! You fellas are more than welcome over at trapperman.com ! If your not a member join up ! Tons of trappers, snaresmen , houndsmen , hunters fishermen etc on there. There a only a few UK guys though would be nice to more of ya !
  5. I wouldn't say they're vermin in the sense of rats but they are a pest in some situations. The main problem they cause is eating fish in peoples ponds . They also take ducks, geese , I've seen em bite cows on the utters ( and other places ) when they wade in ponds. They'll also bite people swimming. t, until he thing is most of the time people wont even know they're in their ponds for years ! There extremely stealthy animals believe it or not. I have a rather large pond behind my house and ive fished there since I was in diapers, I only found out this year there were snappers only because the
  6. A broom handle? f**k me. I take it back - don't stick your finger in there ha Yeah those are more of the larger ones, the gator snappers mainly. Those aren't super common in my state as they are futher south in Louisiana. I had I friend who caught one , think it drowed in one of his catfish nets, thing was like 200lbs, theres old news clippings from back in the 20'-50's where they caught 500 pounders I mean just huge creatures !. those thinks would snap a broom handle like a twig and tank a finger clean off. how ever what I have are the common snapping turtles. They can get really big
  7. I'll double that if he sticks his finger in its mouth and posts the picture There was a program on a few nights ago about fellas hunting in the American swamps - everything from frogs to snakes to alligators. I'd love to be able to do that Swamp People ? Yeah I'm about two hours from where a lot of that is lol !
  8. Figured yall would find this interesting . Me and m little brother caught our first legit snapping turtle today. I say legit because we've caught them by accident fishing before but this one was actually caught in a turtle trap. Its a small one , 10 lbs tops ( I think that's like 4-5 kg ).
  9. Come yo think of it sheep panel may be more readily available or you guys. Also working on a video of impopements I've made
  10. I made this and i figured some of you fellas across the pond would enjoy this. I think you can get hore pannel over there,or something similar.
  11. Just curious,do any of you guys collect urine or glands from fox or rabbit you catch or shoot ?
  12. actually if you dispatch them properly they don't spray. I think a laugh shot will put them down without a spray. As for the smell a combo of hydrogen peroxide and dish soap will get the smell out .
  13. Well actually I barely smell it any more lol ! A lot of the lure here use skunk quill in some from or another as a carrier. If you smelled some of the long distance call lures we have over here a lot of y'all might puke lol ! Not uncommon for people to be called up by the cops because the drug dog went crazy over a package of lures and bait.
  14. I made a post Ali hike back about some cage traps I made with horse panel. Well put them out yesterday and endes go with this delighted Lil fellow this morning lol ! As you see he was able to pull a lot if trash into the trap with him and make himself comfortable! So much so even after a took the door off he refused to leave lol. So just left the door off and I guess he'll figure out how to get t out eventually. Really happy with my cages and happier I didn't get sprayed!
  15. try backing it up into a bush or something where he can only see the opening. Next put some grass leaves, hay or what ever the ground is normaly covers with on the cage bottom so it looks more natural. Alsoid take some of feathers from a chicken or what ever and speed them around the entrance like something got murdered there lol. Regardless I doubut your just gonna get him on the first night. Especially with a cage. Now something you may find interesting is some observations for the old wolfers from over here. Wolfers, by the by ,is a term we use for the old government trappers who would go
  16. 10"wide 20" tall 36" long . And your right ! Now your fox over there are much bigger than the ones over here !I was talking to a trapper who moved to the UK for a spell and he said the red fox over there are more like small coyotes than large fox ! Their especially large around Wales from what I see. But cages over their are mainly used for Grey fox, bobcats, raccoon and possum. For animals like coyotes, red fox and such foot holds are preferred. The tall narrow cage is what's called the California Style . The principle is that animals would prefer to go through a tall narrow opening than a sho
  17. I see cage trapping over there is pretty common so I figured I share this cage trap I made today out of 2x4" Horse panel . I made it like the California Style cat cages that are a favorite over this way.
  18. Yeah I've noticed alot on here get pretty upset when it comes to footholds.
  19. Well those foot snares go to my 6" Beliles (pretty sure I miss spelled that lol ) but it's a thrower that works like a regular foot hold but the snare is what holds the animal and the trap pops off after a short fight. I've been trying them for coyotes but haven't had much luck ,mainly because I keep leaving the safety on lol ! But there's also another method that alot of live market trapped use and that's leg snaring. Basically an extremely heavily loaded snare ( usually 5/65th 1X19 ) is placed in a trail only an inch or so off the ground to target the animal leg. But it's one of those thin
  20. Got my second grey fox today. As you see this Lil male took the drag too some thick stuff and was basically just relaxing there when I pulled up. As you see no broke bones and he's pretty relaxed. He did have a nice on his paw that was bleeding a little but I suspect that was simply from some some of the thorn he bedded up in. Regardless he could've been set free and walked off no problem ! The land owner is actually gonna get this one mounted
  21. Here they are ! Now they can out pretty good but due to the cold some of the paint didn't drip the way it should, also I didn't restive the paint the second day and it got a bit thick. But all and all pretty happy. As you see with this foot snare ,if you dulled your cable it costs very nicely. Can't say the same about cable right out the box
  22. Recently got my Benjamin Maximus in .22 . It's probably 30 in my collection but my first PCP so I was curious what's the best way to clean the barrel ? Some say a pull through while others say a one piece fiberglass rod. Also is it OK to use Hoppes #9 solvent in my air rifles in general ? Thanks !
