Digging pup wanted
View Advert
I'm looking for a digging pup for my cousin. 5 star home waiting and the dog will see plenty of graft when older. Both parents must be seasoned grafters. If anyone knows of anything please let me know. I know it's a long shot this time of year. Thanks in advance. Atb Adam

not very often I post in this section but villaman asked me to point you in the right direction!
the hw99 in .177 is fine and can be made to shoot just as well as a .22
I bought one just so I could see what could be done with one to make it better, I never hunted with it and sold it straight on to a mate off here who still owns it and loves it!
this is just my opinion after tuning lots of guns.. save your money on drop in kits and work with what you've got!
first off the finishing on factory stock springs is sh1te there rough as f...
re finish the spring with a dremmel as in your aiming to get it to stand plumb on the workbench or table,, might take a blowtorch and pliers to get its profile right, when you look down the spring it wants to be inline all the way down the profile and test it moves freely on the top hat and lower guide!
when that's done your 80% there.. the next thing is the piston seal, there not bad but the likes of a Vortek or custom air seal make better and you'll get a thud rather than a bounce when you shoot.. they can be spun in a drill on the piston till they will naturally fall through the compression tube when you take your finger off the transfer port.. size it with fine wet&dry paper.
also replace the breach seal, this is the yellow one the blacks a Vortek piston seal
that should have you running at more or less full power for a sub 12 and of smoothed the firing cycle out... the next part is more to do with the cocking, the main problem of gualing/ rough cocking in some of the 99's ive seen is that the plastic under guide is under far to much tension,, theres a spring under it.. this can be shortened or removed and takes the pressure off the piston when cocking.. you can even sand the plastic guide carefully to smooth it out even more!
you can fully go to town on the piston and button them, I did on the one I bought but it might be a bit much depending how good you are with machinery.
this was the photo the lad who I sold to sent me after he got it zeroed
if you get stuck or want any help pm me as its not often I look in this bit!
Thank you mate I really appreciate it. I've sent you a pm. Atb adam

Yep .22 would’ve been better , but saying that one of the shooters on here use to tune a few guns and he got 99 .177 running real good apparently.
Do you know what tuning kit he used by any chance mate or even the fellas name so I could speak too him. Cheers atb Adam

Thanks lads I've bought a hw 99 in .177 now. Really thinking I should of done more research as I spoke too a fella from Monmouthshire who tunes guns and he said that the 99 in .177 may have problems if I put a tuning kit in it. Not sure if it's true but don't want too mess the gun up. He said I would of been better of with .22? Atb Adam

Hw 97k (sporter stock) or a kt (thumb hole)
In any cal but be warned
Most need a tune out of the box
Unless bought second had
And they are a bit on the heavy side
But one of the best out there
Pro sport in any cal one of the best to
And very accurate out of the box
No tuning needed
But both the 97 and prosport
Will cost you a bit of money if bought new
Hw 99 in any cal
177 is a bit snappy out of the box
And could do with a tune but once done it's a dream to shoot
22 is OK out of the box
But could still do with a little polish
And the best part of this rifle is the cost
Very cheap rifle at just over 200 notes new
Hope this helps
Atvbjimmy,
That helped alot mate thanks alot. So you would pick the 99 over the 95? Atb Adam

4 dog pups available out of this litter if anybodys interested? Should make belting bushing dogs. Atb Adam

Worked out better for me in the end. My mates springer x working farm collie came into season so I bred her with a 3/4 russel 1/4 beagle. Both excellent bushing dogs. Hopefully she catches. I will keep the bitch over with me, rear the pups take one from the litter then send the bitch back over with him. He doesn't want anything too do with pups though has he bred his cocker bitch in the summer and it cost him £1500 for a c section in the vets after one got stuck. That's the risks I suppose though. If all goes well I will have a well bred bushing pup or 2 so it will all be worth it hopefully . Atb Adam

I was hoping to get a pup out of my busher but the bitch that we had lined up hasn’t come into season. Was gutted. Hope you find something lads.
Thanks mate. Yes hopefully something pops up. It's a long shot I know but it doesn't have too be a pup. Atb Adam

I'm also looking too mate I've been looking for a while now. Something did pop up but covid and my new born ending up in hospital for abit on oxygen with bronchiolitis, chest infection and also covid messed it up a little as it wasn't the right time to go get it. Hopefully something pops up for me now everything's sorted thank god. If anyone knows of anything It would be highly appreciated if you could let me know please. Thanks atb Adam and happy new year guys

I had a Patterdale that used too fit i took him too the vets multiple times. In the end He asked what disinfectant I used I told him black fluid. He said that's the cause. I changed the disinfectant and he stopped having them. It's mad because every other dog I've had has never been affected by black fluid apart from that one. Atb Adam
