I have heard today, from an old school friend that works as a senior secretary at the BASC, that the general licence is due to be amended later this year.....
She was asked to take minutes at meetings and consultations between the BASC, EU government representatives and the UK Environment agency.
I don't have all of the information about the meetings but, apparently, some of the motivations behind the decision include the recent migrant crisis and the lack of ethnic minorities involved in shooting sports. However, these points aren't due to be publicised.
The amendment is due to be published sometime around the end of summer this year - it will detail that we are no longer allowed to shoot or trap black rabbits.
......remember, you heard it here first.

I'm not going to click on that video. The pictures an write up are bad enough.
I'm also not a violent man but, after reading that, I'd like to get my hands on both of those little pricks.
......that poor dog.

While we're talking pellets and you boys use and test .177,any one used the real heavy ones,h&n piledrivers,21 grain in .177?? There's another heavy one but can't remember what's its called...
Not a wind up or another debate and I personally don't see the point in sub 12 but am interested...
The heaviest I've tried in .177 was H&N Sniper Magnum at 15gr. I found them accurate and, they had a big punch but, they really dropped off after 30yrds.
They're not bad out to a max of 25yrds.

I finally got my bottle filled today so, I was able to put 200bar into my new A&M cylinder for the first time and see what I could get from it.....
The rifle is an HW100kt .177. For this test, I used its favourite JSB Heavy 10.34gr. I fired full mags from 200bar and recorded the Combro readings for the first 3 and last 3 shots from each mag.....
Mag 1:
S1. 10.86ftlb - 689fps
S2. 11.14ftlb - 698fps

S13. 10.92ftlb - 691fps
S14. 10.99ftlb - 693fps
This is where it looked like it was about to start tailing off so, I recorded the next 5 shots.....
S1. 10.66ftlb - 683fps
S2. 10.77ftlb - 686fps
S3. 10.65ftlb - 682fps
S4. 10.55ftlb - 679fps
S5. 10.30ftlb - 671fps
Considering that I was getting 56 shots (4 mags) from the original cylinder and, I'm now getting 98 shots (7 mags), I'm very happy with this cylinder.
Because it also weighs less, the center of gravity is now near the trigger, making standing shots a lot easier for me.
From my results, it looks like I'm better off with a fill of around 190bar to start a nights hunting.
I was also surprised to see the pellets energy rise as the air pressure reduced over the last couple of mags.
Having only returned to shooting around a year ago, I'm still a newbie with a lot to learn. The amount of info out there can be mind boggling.
I put this us up for anyone that may also be looking for simplified info on this particular subject.
I've also attached a pic of what I was shooting at so that you can see the slight drop in point of impact over the last 5 shots.
Atb.

That's a nice read. It shows the type of camaraderie that I keep seeing in this sport.
Good luck to all of you.

Bet a lot of dads suddenly showed interest in school run and parents evenings, bet it was a jealous female teacher or mother.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Personally, I couldn't give a monkeys if the teacher looks like Grot Bags or like this fine specimen, as long as they're a good teacher.

Ask him straight. Tell him what you've heard and wait for his reaction. Then, if you don't like it, stop giving him a lift.
There's nothing wrong with helping someone.
I agree that he should have offered something toward the fuel cost. It's a shame that so many people today seem to lack good old fashioned manners.

They are nice guns.
Stretch it's legs on some targets - you'll probably find it to be very capable a good way past 35yrds.

Cheers guys.
She did know when to shoot mate - it won't be long until these young 'uns are nicking our permissions, lol
I can see Little Hunter outgrowing airguns in a few years. He sounds like a good lad and a credit to you.

This is my little 'un with her first rabbit from late last summer.
She'd been shooting targets at different ranges for a while and, was doing well. She was using her BSA Goldstar se .177 with Bisley Magnums. We fitted a NS Viper and 23" bipod. It was just right for her to aim while on one knee.
We went to my rugby club permission. I carried the rifle and we both looked at the screen to spot the rabbits.
I missed an easy 20yrd rabbit in the car park.
We walked the usual places where I know they come out. We had 3 goes at getting her down behind the rifle but, they all ran before she could get on aim.
The last one was right out in the open, on one of the pitches. We managed to get the rifle down about 35ish yrds away. The rabbit was alert and, turned to face us. Before I could whisper to Sophie to wait, she put the crosshairs right between it's eyes and sqeezed the trigger.
The pellet hit with a loud crack and, the rabbit did a big flip. I scooped up the gun and pulled out my torch. We got to it quick and, I got her to feel it's chest - it's heartbeat was just finishing.
So, that was it. A 2 hour trip. She fired 1 shot and got 1 clean rabbit. I missed an easy one - she loves to remind me about that now and again.
She was chuffed to bits. On the quarter mile walk back to the car, I carried the rifle, she carried her rabbit. All she wanted to tak about was what we were going to cook with it.

Cheers Mac,
'Little hunter' - Good name. It's brilliant that he'll sort the rabbits as well. Although my daughter is happy to watch me, she's not prepared to chop their heads off yet lol.
I've found the pic from last year so, I'll start a new thread so that I'm not hijacking this one.

Cheers Simon.
She's been shooting for almost a year and, she's really enjoying it. She uses a BSA Goldstar.
She got her first rabbit last summer. A nice clean shot at around 35yrds with NV. She was so prud of her self. She watched me clean and prepare it and she helped cook it.
Half term started on friday. She's been doing well with targets. I'll try to take her out for a couple of nights ambushing this week.
BSA Goldstar! What a fabulous rifle for a young lady shooter to have. That is one of the last great rifles BSA spring rifles made as a home-grown British gunmaker. It is really very encouraging to read about the children of members here picking up where their dads and grandads are and have been in shooting sports.
I've spent some magic hours with a my friend AndyFR1968 here and taking his two boys out to shoot with us and training them up to shoot as well as possible. They are growing up fast and enjoy their own shooting days and nights out now.
Long may it be so and continue Jon, she sounds a smashin' young lady you have there. Looking forward to reading your hunting posts with her.
All the best.
Simon
Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific - It's a BSA Goldstar se pcp.
She is learning to use a springer, with a .177 HW30k. She's enjoying it but, she's no where near hunting with it yet.
Thanks for the kind words.

I've had a count and, I've got more .25 pellets than I thought I had......
H&N FTT 19.91gr. Almost full tin of 200.
H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme 28.40gr. Almost full tin of 200.
JSB Exact King 25.39gr. 3 sealed tins of 350 and 1 tin with about 40 left.
JSB Exact King Heavy 33.95gr. 3 sealed of 300 and 1 almost full tin.
As mentioned above, I'm happy to swap for the following.....
Falcon Accuracy Plus in .177 or .22
JSB Exact RS in .177 or .22
JSB Exact Heavy in .177 only
JSB Polymag in .22
JSB Polymag short in .177

Thanks for the welcomes.
Wiltshire's a nice place. We moved here from Reading just after our daughter was born. It was a good move. Swindon is fairly central and, close to some very nice countryside.
I wasn't going to subject my daughter to my old estate in her formative years.

I had a .25 r3m Matador for a few months, I've just sold it back to the original owner.
They're very good. Solidly built and accurate. It was a lot of fun to use for short range work (I don't have an fac). The bolt cycled nicely, the trigger, although not as refined as some, was good. There is storage for 4 mags under the weaver rail. It never let me down.
However, I think the true potential of that rifle is to have it running at around 45ftlb. Then, I imagine it would be a very good hunting tool.

Hi Rabid,
I have some different .25 pellets that I'd be happy to swap. I'll try to sort a proper list out if you're interested. From memory, I have JSB, JSB Heavy and H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme.
I'd be looking for either Falcon Accuracy Plus .22, JSB RS .22, JSB Heavy .22 or, Polymag .22 or, Polymag short .177.
