i would go for a female harris hawk for a first bird, but what will be your main quarry? ,also a redtail can be a bit dodgey for a first bird ,but at the end of the day its up to you, read through some of the threads on here to see if that helps your decision regards wag

i fly my harris hawks with leg bells, female (1) ,male (2) one on each leg, but im going to be flying a goss from next year so i will be going on to tail bells. the reason i fly two on my male is because the bells are smaller and harder to hear at a distance. so the smallest of movement it can be herd better . regards wag

went out yesterday afternoon with my mate to check a few earths that i havent done this year ,got to the first hole ,checked the collar was working on the dog then let her have a look had a few sniffs but nowt at home walked a bit further to a three holer straight in,she was in a couple of mins and started baying hard.i loaded the gun and we left her to settle for about 5 mins i passed the gun to my mate while i started to locate and just started to locate her when my mate shouted fox and then there was a bang and the fox was dead in the bottom of the dyke. went on a bit further did a few mor

yes mate,i went out for a ouick lamp last night to get a hare because i forgot to get some chicks out ,and there was 31 on one field, so there looks like there will be plenty for us . got my mate tim coming out with us too with his female harris . regards wag

sorry mate, my head is a shed at the moment, thats right he got the woodie on the farm track we walked down . carnt wait until the 27th to mate. got another 400 acres to go on now with two ducks ponds on and i can do what i like on there with the birds, its a shame i wont have a bird ready in time but it will still be fun regards wag

i know what you mean bullet, we had loads of flights on pheasants, ducks. on the day we walked miles there was some top flights both males gave it there all that day. the female of chrissys was just learning, she hadnt had a kill then, but now shes amazing regards wag
