She's a good guard and my missus likes her. That alone means I'll keep her. If she gets hunting even better. I've got the time, money and land to enjoy a fair few dogs so we will get on just fine

What can't you believe mate? I've rescued a dog from being PTS and I'm going to try and get her hunting with my dogs. Plenty of people all over the world use ridgebacks for a variety of uses. I haven't said she will be the greatest dog in the world but I'm sure she will get involved

Once I've got her fitter and bonded with her she will be out with my lot so I'm sure she will pick a few things up off them Cheers lads

A few photos of her. She is very overweight and unfit but good diet and plenty of exercise will put that right

Has anyone ever hunted with a rhodesian ridgeback? I have just rescued a 13 month old bitch. She has got brilliant manners and great with other dogs. Her owner has the big C so cannot no longer care for her. Really hound looking.g bitch stands around 24 inches. I have read of peopl using them for a variety of uses and hunting all sorts. I have 2 runners and a terrier so I'm hoping she will learn from them and get hunting with the pack soon

Cheers lads ,he's seems to be on the mend now. His leg has gone down a little and not so angry looking now. He is definitely milking it though. My missus has turned into a nurse for him. She does'nt look after me when I'm ill like she has him lol

Had t take my bull x to the vets today. He had a run in with a feral cat a few days ago on the farm I have I have a bit of permission on. The day after he had some swelling and knowing how dirty cats are I got my father in law to give him a jab for me. The swelling went down and he appeared to be on the mend. Woke up this morning and he could not even walk. His front leg had swelled up and was twice the size and looked like it was ready to burst . Rang the vet and took him straight up . She said he had a bad infection and gave him another jab and some pain killers. A course of antibiotics an

-
Yes your right mate he is a bit fat at the minute,he's getting over a broken toe so not in the best of shape . ATB
-
No he's quiet as a mouse in the yard, does'nt make a sound. He is very protective towards my son and missus. No one can go near them when he is about

My cousin rang me last night and asked if he can use my big dog over his bitch. The dog he was going to use did not want to know the bitch. Think he must be queer He travelled up this morning and we lined them. Should make big strong pups. They are from the same line

Yeah kirkwell is a lovely little place. It has everything there but without all the big chain stores. I'm about 15 miles from there. I have only been to the mainland and Hoy
-
Yes it's the mainland I am on. I was looking at some of the outer islands but decided on the mainland for healthcare rrc I found it just right, nice and isolated but not a million miles away from civilization
-
Thanks fellas Your right it is a lovely place. Got a few more years till I'm up there full time but got my place so more than happy. 3 bed stone cottage with 2 acres for the place of a garage in the south east. Needs a little work but nothing major
-
Does anyone on here living on the Orkney isles? I've recently bought a place with a bit of land and will be periodically be spending some time up there before making the final move in a few years. Be good to hear from anyone who is up there and maybe get out and have a mooch with the dogs Cheers
-
Thanks, she keeps me happy Mostly deerhound with a bit of grey and saluki way back
-
Thanks All-Terrain ,bloody phones
-
Managed to get out for a couple of hours after work with the deerhound x and my little Lakeland . Only a bit of wasteland but always seem to have a bit of sport. Used to hold loads of foxes years ago but rarely see one now. My bitch and Lakeland are a cracking little team together ,well they keep me happy.

I've got to take her back Thursday for a check up then go back a week after for the stitches being removed
-
No not insured. I picked her up today, feeling pretty sorry for herself and this heat does'nt help She's loving having a rest indoor though
-
Just got off the phone to the vets It had, sliced through the muscle underneath and had 10 stitches Not the worst by all means but certainty warranted seeing a vet I know my limitations when it comes to treating my animals. For the sake of a few hundred quid she will be better all the sooner ready for the season Cheers fellas
-
Yeah it's a bad photo mate. When I got her home and layed her on her side I saw how big it is. It's easily three times the size of that.
