  1. This video is mainly from our pheasant shoot on Boxing Day 2015, in the Glens of Antrim Ireland. There are also a couple of clips at the start from 23rd December. I have tried a new editing software on this video and to be honest I found it very complicated. The software is Powerdirector Ultra 14, I have a month free trial, so I would be interested in getting a idea of how everyone thinks this one compares to the videos I have made previously using Windows Moviemaker. Onto the shooting. It was another dull windy day and the birds flew great, in fact, too good for me most of the
  2. Are yis getting many this year there seems to be a lot about Not getting a huge amount. The area that we hunt needs some tight frosty weather to push them to lower ground.
  3. Happy Christmas everyone. This is a video from last Saturday 19th December on the syndicate shoot, here in the Glens of Antrim Northern Ireland. The pheasants were very testing with 30-40 mph winds up their tail most of the day, but it made for good shooting. I spent most of the day beating so didn't get loads of footage, but captured some nice shots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPbEdMlD34k Please like, share, comment & subscribe to my channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdXL__oYvbmKo0Ccm-vWRfw Thanks for watching
  4. Thanks fella. Yes we do have some good ground. The glens of Antrim especially are very picturesque!!!
  5. Here is a video of some rough shooting for woodcock from Ireland on the 15th December. Was a very dull & dark day so the footage isn't the best, but I had a good day none the less. Ended up with a bag of 3 woodcock & 2 pigeons. Hope you enjoy. Link to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdXL__oYvbmKo0Ccm-vWRfw
  6. Wood pigeon lasagne ???.?l.l.l bet that would be nice too Great idea!!! How did I not think of that?
  7. Good stuff Ollie. It looks like as area just made for woodcock. Thanks Neil. To be honest we never get many woodcock on our pheasant shoot. Like you say, it looks made for them, but for some reason we don't get many.
  8. Hi All, I was off work all last week, always take a week off at the start of December to get a bit of woodcock shooting done. Unfortunately, the temperamental Irish weather meant I didn't get out as much as I would like; however, I did get out 3 days and I managed to capture some footage from my outings. Day 1: Was a little late starting on this day as the weather was very poor in the morning but I had a good idea it was going to dry up in the afternoon. In total I flushed 8 woodcock on this day (including 3 from one whin bush!!!), but I only got a shot at 3 and I bagged them all. It w
  9. My new sausage stuffer arrived today. I have loads of frozen pigeon breasts in the freezer. Where does everyone get their skins & mix from (links would be great to websites). Also what ratio of pork fat would you use?
  10. Lads, here is a step-by-step guide to how I make a pheasant pie, pasties & soup. Hope you like it and make sure you try this recipe: Ollie
  11. Here is my latest video from our small syndicate shoot last Saturday. With overnight snow in the hills we were hoping for a good day & perhaps a couple of woodcock. However, it turned out very wet which ruined the shooting & also some of the camera work. We ended up getting 6 pheasants, 1 woodcock & 1 rabbit. I was happy with my return of 2 pheasants for 2 shots, but the bag woulda been bigger only for some terrible shooting from the other lads ?. Anyway here is the short video, hopefully the next day the weather is better and I can get better footage: My cha
  12. I literally just seal them in a pan, roast in the oven for about 15 minutes, leave to rest for a few minutes & it should be a nice blush pink. I eat them with some spuds & gravy. Don't forget the best bit...the legs!!!
  13. Got a couple of days off this week and then off all next week, so hoping with this new moon and hopefully some frosty weather to come I will get out at the woodcock a few days. Here is a couple of my outings from last year at this wonderful little bird. First one is actually from a couple of days, 2nd being the best where we bagged quite a few in the one day: The 2nd video is from a short half hour outing across the fields behind my Father's house, again a few birds made it into the bag: Thanks for watching.
  14. Cheers mate, hopefully plenty more to come.
  15. I shot my first one of the season on Saturday. Hopefully with some wintery weather due this weekend it will bring more in.
  16. Cheers lads , thanks for watching.
  17. Here is a video of our first proper outing on the pheasant syndicate this year. The weather was unseasonably warm & the cover is still high so we didn't have a great day. The highlight of the day was a large pod of porpoises breaking the surface along the coast when we were shooting. Unfortunately a lot of them were too far out in the sea to pick up on the head cam, but you may notice some of them. I was trying my new sj4000 camera for the first time & I was impressed by the clarity of it, especially considering how cheap it was. I hope you enjoy!!! https://
  18. We were on our pheasant shoot for the first time this season at the weekend. Was a very warm clear day & the shooting wasn't great as the dogs were knackered. Our shoot runs along the coast & the scenery is amazing. All of a sudden we look out into the sea and there is a massive pod of porpoises making their way up along the coast. They were breaking the water at regular intervals and they were spread out over a big area, some of them were beside the shore, some of them were at least 100 yards out. I can't imagine how many there was but I'm sure there was 100+. I was wearing m
  19. In the height of the summer during harvest time I sometimes find it difficult to use all the surplus pigeons that I shoot. I like to simply pan fry them with pepper sauce & traditional irish champ, but I thought I would mix it up. With the use of a electric mincer I decided to match a batch of bolognese & it was delicious. Here is a simple video of how I made it: It is really easy to make, I make it in large batches & freeze it and it makes a handy meal after work. In fact, I am going to make a batch of it this evening. I plan on getting a sausage maker to make
  20. I agree. The soaking of the rabbit is meant to remove some of the strong taste. However, I don't mind the taste, especially at this time of the year in a slow cooker with some potatoes & veg.
  21. just becareful with that dog on any wounded crows they will have the dogs eyes out good vid though Cheers. To be honest I thought the crow was dead. I normally only send her on dead ones.
  22. This video is a compilation of a couple of outings I had in September & October 2015. They were overall 2 poor days, but there were enough clips to make a short video. First day was a glorious day and between 2 recently cut barley fields I had a very poor return. Second day was from last week. The farmer had rang to tell me the field of drilled wheat was black with crows. As we all know farmers are prone to exaggeration & we managed 20 corvids & 1 magpie. Thanks for watching, if you would like to check out my other video visit my channel: https://m.youtube.co
  23. If I was going beating & I rarely do as I'm part of my own syndicate, a brace of birds at the end of the day & being offered a beaters day or a go at roost shooting pigeons in February would be enough for me. Any times I have gone beating was to get my dog out a run, so not bothered about fuel unless I was travelling a great distance.
  24. And don't forget to soak the rabbit meat in salt water for at least overnight before cooking however you decide to cook it.. I have heard of people soaking them but I never do that, I don't mind the taste of rabbit.
