  1. Us Aussie boys generally only ever use them in a cross bred capacity....cross one with our Aussie cattle dog, tweak it until you get just the right mix and bingo!... You have the ultimate dog for all occasions in my opinion.
  2. Thanks for the replys boys. Yep, it definitely put a fright up me. One thing it did do was make me consider getting another one for back up in case another "accident" happens. Not to sound heartless but if you do a bit with your dog in the scrub over here you go through quite a few with snake bite, pigs, dingoes ect....and I hate starting over with pups that first 6 months is as slow as gaol time.
  3. just got my first real terrier, a bitch Russell called Penny. I had a few Pitt, Staffy crosses in the past when I was chasing pigs and goat etc but lately I've been getting right into my fox hunting so I thought maybe a smaller fog would be the go. Anyway, I was just in my backyard digging a stump out of the ground and Penny was frolicking around digging under roots and showing some good signs when stupidly I dropped the heavy spud bar and before I knew it, almost in slow motion, the dog ran right under it. It fell right across its head and shoulders. The dog instantly went BESERK! Yelping
  4. Different strains of healer have different traits. Some throw back to the bully mix and hunt/scrap harder and some show more the kelpie influence and tend to think things out but are also a bit more flighty. But they usually always have a big dose of dingo and are wary of everyone! Best all round dog ever put together in my opinion....breed 1/8 bully into a red bitch and it's the ultimate.
  5. Ta, boys. Looks to be a complete and informative forum. Problem is after spending a bit of time on it all I want to do is go hunting and fill my backyard up with more dogs"....but for bloody work.
  6. hunter from Aust here. I don't specialize in any game in particular just chase most of the local ferals from pigs, foxes, goats, bunnies but generally leave the natives alone. Just got myself a little jack russell and am interested in seeing if he'll rat for me? I don't know much about it so here I am. All the best.
