Daystate Regal. I've Found The Low Power Problem Out With Them.

Recommended Posts

Alright then. Given that the rifle performs superbly once it gets down to the 'sweet spot', what are these XTXair regulators like and what will it cost for them to fit one please?

Here you go Simon, scroll down to Daystate

£200 to service and regulate Regal and p&p is extra

Please also bear in mind that Darrin (XTX) is also a Daystate dealer!

Simon, I hate to say it but you really should have opted for the German powerhouse that it the HW100.

Superbly engineered and comes regulated as standard. Really lovely rifles as you come to expect from Weihrauch. I picked mine up brand new for £700

Thanks zandy01 and Mitch for the links to XTXAir.

Not quite as dear as I anticipated (I thought 250-300 quid.) I like the look of this fellow's workmanship. Definitely the way to go.

Thanks again Gentlemen.

Simon.

Simon , you will not be disappointed In Darrin work, I have had few jobs done by him and every time its been spot on . in fact I have a airgun tuner who is about 15 minuets away

from me and every time I prefer to pay the postage to XTX Air because I now the job will be the best IMO

I had my BSA Ultra regged some four plus years ago and never had a problem , not only that Darrin is a gent ,just like yourself , give him a call and you will see what I mean

PS

Get him to put a nice blued barrel on as well

Y'know Mitch I was out at dawn this morning with the Regal and it didn't miss a beat. Eight rabbits with eight shots some over 40 yards distant -and one of those was from a standing position.

This is a genuinely superb rifle. I'm absolutely certain, this is a genuine supergun. I take back what I said against it before. It's not the Regal that's at fault, it's the way it's being made. For the £800 price tag it should have a far better regulator than it's got here.

It just needs a proper heart. Just a more efficient regulator to make more efficient use of the air in the cylinder.

On your recommendation Mitch, I'm going to give Darrin at XTXAir a call when I've got the dosh together to give him a decent set-to on this rifle.

If he can make this rifle perform like you say, he'll turn it into something fabulous. It's got everything going for it, inside it, to get it there.

  • 1 year later...

:bye: Its nice to be back and health a lot better.

Anyway I too am having some power problems with my Regal .22, one of the first ones made. The test sheet from DS states it delivers 11.40 over a ten shot test but when I chrono it using DS Sovereigns, which I assume is the pellet they use for their tests because the test sheet does not give the pellet details, the best it can do is 10.3 and that at a fill of 180 Bar.

Being honest I prefer to buy British BUT I am becoming very disillusioned with Daystate and now use my other non Daystate's far more. The price Daystate quoted me for a service is unrealistic and made far worse by the extra charges they impose. Will I buy another Daystate? NOT EVER!

Now Villaman.....(or anyone with the knowledge) can you help me adjust the power levels please?

After it is back to its stated 11.40 I am considering selling it and buying from another manufacturer with proven reliability (and more realistic service costs) such as AA or BSA.

:D:D

Whoopiedoo....its now on 11.46 so at least its near to the 11.40 x 10 shots it was claimed to have been when it left the factory. Begs the question of when according to their website video 'how we chrono test each rifle produced' it can be achieved by ONE man firing ten shots from each one and loading each as a single round though? Must have very very very long days!BS is my interpretation of that claim by the evidence now before me. Will never buy another Daystate.....
