Here's my first real post, I am new to the trapping and snaring game and need help I have a 100 or so bought snares 25 mk6 fenn's and 10 Magnum bodygrips (the ones for rabbits) I have bought the bodygrips basics video and watched it to death and it pointed me the right way with them , now I need more instruction with the snares and fenn's have tried the fenn's with moderate sucess and wires I am on the verge of giving them up , cannot find anybody to teach me and this is a last attempt to gain some insight into how it should be done....please help.

are they peg fence or what wires? try woodga about the snares. what he cant snare aint worth snaring so im told. oh an p&g if youre realy stuck.

hi leon [bANNED TEXT] i know there is nothing more frustrating than getting up early in the morning and finding you have nothing in your snares and quite a few knocked and tripped wires well [bANNED TEXT] i am asuming you are using peg snares so here goes set your snares early to try and get any scent off them rub your hands on some grass or dockleaves or dry soil to remove your smell look at the runs and follow the beats this is where the rabbit puts its feet as it travells along its run as it goes out to feed. set your snare over the centre of a beat not in between as some would tell you on pasture land your snare should be set at 6.5 inches to the bottom of the loop look along the run as you set your wires looking out onto the feild the way the rabbit is travelling dont have your snare to far over the run as this will result in missed rabbits and make sure you have a marker pin to show you where your snares are obviously there is more than what i have said to snaring tensioning the wire cocking the eye ect ect but i dont want to confuse you hope this basic guide helps oh to get the correct setting hight place your little finger on the beat spread your hand and set your snare just above your thumb one more thing the higher the crops or grass you snare in the higher you want your snare to be off theground good hunting all woodga :ph34r:

Tried what you said and got my first bunny in a snare this morning , but still had about 5 knocked ones . I think my problems are actually identifying the runs the place I am snaring is a sheep farm so the grass is really short, but your info has helped me catch one so that has renewed my enthusiasm. What sort of catch rate do you get i.e do you get knocked ones or do most of your snares catch or even all....just so I have some sort of standards to be working towards

my personal best out of 100 peg wires was 87 i know p&g off this site has had around the same mark but our good friend glenn waters from scotland has had 98 out of 100 on more than one occasion you will always get the odd knocked snare but by using the methods we have now we strive to be perfect :11: :11: good hunting all woodga :ph34r: LEON IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS PM ME [bANNED TEXT]

Ive had a 89 out 100 pegged wires and loads more 80s,countless 70s and 60s!

When i took the 89 out of the 100 wires i only had one other wire knocked.

89 out of a 100 wires makes my 4 out of 50 look a bit naff really...but I am actually catching now so thats a start

Its all about practise Leon.Ive been snaring since i was nine and was taught off an old keeper who was a shit hot rabbit snarer.Then i met G.S.Waters 15 years ago and the rest is history.For 15 years there was hardly a week that i wasnt snaring rabbits some where!!!!
