DIY Scope Sunshade

Recommended Posts

Had a go at making a sunshade today for my Hawke 4-12-50 scope, easy to do if you can find the right pipe. The best I could find was some 50mm PVC ducting, this has a enlarged connection end with a I/D

of 54mm,my scope has an O/D of 56mm.If you know any builders or BT,Electric Board workers they should be able to get you a some, you only need the end that is enlarged.

The flange is approx 100mm long so I cut the pipe with an old handsaw at about 45 deg and cleaned the edge with a sharp blade.

You then need to cut through the bottom of the shade, this will let it expand over your scope, again de-bur with a sharp knife.

I then added some Black tape to see if it helped with the look but realised after I need to source something for a better finish.

All you need to do now is slip it on your scope and off you go.

PS.This was just a quick play at work and their is room for improvement but it gives you an idea.
