Came accross this recipie whilst on a good site with lots of unusual recipies on and think i might have to go shoot a few crows out the back as this is just an unbeateable delicious recipe!!

Potted crow

6 crows

3 bacon slices

stuffing of your choice

1 diced carrot

1 diced onion

chopped parsley

hot water or stock

1/4 cup shortening

1/4 cup flour

buttered toast

Clean and dress crows; stuff and place them upright in stew-pan on the slices of bacon. Add the carrot, onion and a little parsley, and cover with boiling water or stock. Cover the pot and let simmer for 2-3 hours, or until tender, adding boiling water or stock when necessary. Make a sauce of the shortening and flour and 2 cups of the stock remaining in the pan.

I'm with Deako on this. Definately!

I would never contemplate putting Crow in my mouth. No F*cking Way! They're not called the Carrion Crow for nothing, ye know? They eat Rotten Flesh ffs! Oh, I feel ill at just the thought of it!

Go on though; Give it a try. If ye survive, ye can tell us what terrible illness it's left ye with!

rook pie, i've heard of. when my grandmother was a landgirl at Pensthorpe hall during the war, they had rook pie all the time. not sure i'd want to try it though, but she swore it was nice!

Yep... rook... at a push (ie. borderline starvation) i may consider eating. As for crow... blah  Potted crow    :alcoholic:

I tried rook pie when I was younger, went beating at a small farm shoot and the guy's mum cooked us all dinner, My dad didn't tell me what it was until I'd eaten it. From what I remember it was quite nice, although apparently it's only young rooks that are used (not as strong a flavour), once they hop away from the nest to build up wing muscles then they get pushed out of the tree with drey poles.
