  1. thought you stopped sending traps here steve...many messaged you but you never reply ...that's what i gather reading posts on this site
  2. new trap ideas are a bit hit and miss...very few traps that aint based on another design, and from experience there others who thought of your idea to... expensive to develop to .... good luck tho.
  3. at the time the fenn safety snare was years ahead in terms of humane capture. 25years or so on and the modern relax-a-lock snare in use country wide but even back then they were develpin snares with the fox wefare in mind
  4. i just found your email add,i message you via there in hour or so
  5. interest was in the safety snare
  6. sorry otc ,, i been band from sending pm's so it seems
  7. may be a long shot, but can any on here remember the year the fenn fox snare went into production.
  8. threads like the above do add interest in a other wise dead section gets people thinking ,gets them typing etc lol,, god im tame compared to that tho i guess
  9. self taught can 30 years,, trained can be few hours on some pest course .
  10. heritage...i agree what you say .there aint many now who run a trap line..take mink trapping for intance, can take months to catch and guess the time needed and cost involved often put many off.... fox snaring the same ....can take weeks at times ....trapping dont always get you intant results..and the time needed before hand to look for suitable set sites in a job in itselfe....my own son now runs his own little squirrel line with a dozen grippers ,11 years old and he sooner be up the fields doing so than sat in doors on the latest computer game...... i think trapping is in your blood,,,and im
  11. a few friends of mine orderd dukes ,and didnt realise it was the standard trap they orderd.. the magnum is the same as the bmi.
  12. when there war in the world ,gun crime in the cities, the old who cant heat or eat at times does a trap mean anything ??.if it kills humanly then it works and at times the power behind such traps are often the like of the people who govern..now nothing .
  13. but there again why say a clone of on the stao,?? things need to be cleared up maybe..
  14. have the trap got to be a named approved trap heritage,if so would a clone also need to share the same name as the approved one ??? the dukes are fantastic traps ,,some say they ain't as good as the bmi and maybe so,,but in spring strength i would say more power than the bmi....its a clone.. the spring ,frame are a clone ,,only difference is the trip wires dog etc,but under the trap approval bollocks they don't apply... 110 bmi here cost as much as £14.. a 110 duke as little as £3... even when you take the tax added post costs from the us the trap still 50%or less than here... there cries then
  15. there are some people out there who capable to produce new traps i'm sure..traps that suit the uk pests better than the imports that we see readily available.... cost of manufacture aint a problem ,,its the funding needed to get the ideas off the drawing board to start with.. im sure a trap can be made and produced here at a far lower cost than say the tube or doc trap....

  17. moley... i think the reason why are traps ain't up to scratch is trap seller here ain't the knowledge to design or manufacture traps any more... quick fix get rich fast method been employed by them for years now..and by some who ain't the skills to do so.. looks at the tube trap for instance ,, why ?? why pay such a price when a fenn in a tunnel do the same job....the kania ,, why when a gripper does the same job ... traps it seems are now catching more people than pests.. i agree traps need beefing up a bit ,but lets hope it don't go the way of the doc ,as that's just about useless here.. bu
  18. birds, foxes etc as we know can not be taken by kill traps..i think kill traps, discretely hidden away, are more human in use and often left untouched by the public... my opinion only ,but i see no real purpose in using them myself, and on a fair point of view i find them unnecessary.
  19. yes you can fire fox.. more mink two than you would get in a live trap and water voles be safer to if you know how to go about it
  20. why would one want to catch a captive alive when a kill trap could and cause less stress
  21. i myselfe dont think there any need for live catch traps no more..
