Rabbithunter 456
note for you fishaben..... you will probably get a bit of stick of lads on here, a bit of piss taking, but take it all with a pinch of salt they mean no harm. Its like anywhere you go You could start an apprenticeship weather it be electrician, plumbing, mechanics, and get stick of the lads you work with. and thats basically what you are entering, a hunting apprenticeship.. When i first started it was ferreting, then i tried lamping, longnetting snaring trapping shooting. The ways of rabbit control are a life-long learning curve, you learn new things all the time, new materials, new methods etc.. are being developed tried and tested all the time. Kevlar snares, breakaway S hooks, just keep at it, take the grief you wil get with a pinch of salt, us lads mean no harm with our little bits of piss taking. You have got to learn somewhere lad, and what better place than a community where you have the likes of woodga, pegandgun and now even Glenn Waters, considered by many, including myself the three kings of snaring :11: Get yourself saved up and get onto one of PegAndGuns snaring course's. Or have a quiet word with Mr. Waters and he may have you starring in his next rabbit snaring video Seriously lad, stick in with us and you will pick up many many tips & helpful hints. Mr. Gun transformed me from a useless f*****g tart from carlisle to a proficient rabbit snarer in five hours He also nearly made me shit myself whilst sitting in the back of the landrover, going up a 80degree incline A few sideward slides, and he is very handy with a pair of long-nosed plier's, just ask PETER THE BEATER Keep at it and good luck in your future ventures, although it does get frustrating when you have 30 odd wires out and have nothing in the morning, but as i said, its all a learning process happy hunting Edited June 20, 2006 by Rabbithunter Quote Link to post

Guest wanderinstar
Leigh, You say "Fisherben, I'm not knocking you for "having a go" mate and I hope you do well if you decide to continue snaring and hunting but I think you should be learning how to humainly dispatch your quarry before you attempt to catch it." But how do you learn how to despatch a rabbit unless you have one in your hands? I think he's showing quite a lot of sense by coming on here and asking, At least he let the one go that he caught. he didn't try and put the animal through uneccesary suffering. Ian. Sorry Leigh, this sounds like I'm having a go. I'm not. just trying to put the other side. Edited June 21, 2006 by wanderinstar Quote Link to post
Vermin Dropper 2
Leigh, You say "Fisherben, I'm not knocking you for "having a go" mate and I hope you do well if you decide to continue snaring and hunting but I think you should be learning how to humainly dispatch your quarry before you attempt to catch it." But how do you learn how to despatch a rabbit unless you have one in your hands? Sorry Leigh, this sounds like I'm having a go. I'm not. just trying to put the other side. No Worries WS, firstly...... he said he let it go because it was too young, then asked how to finish the job. secondly.... as I said, learn to do it in theory before you try, If possible go out with someone who can show you how to do it properly (and they can finish it off if you screw it up the first time) Lastly.... He seems like a decent enough lad, so if anyone lives over his way, why not take the lad out and show him the ropes a bit. I wasn't having a dig either mate just trying to give a bit of advise, I have spent years learning what I do and I learn more every time I'm in the field, I wish that when I started I had a site like this to meet people willing to help. The thing to do ben is to just keep asking and don't get put off, if people take the pi55 just ride with it, you'll always get to55ers on every site but soon you'll be able to pick out the genuine helpful comments from the ones by people who just enjoy moaning about everything. Ben, you have a pm, Quote Link to post
