labs and lurchers pups progress

she went heart of wales on thursday and got 3rd in the bull x class. Judge said good stance good feet good mouth nice bitch

why did you put a labx in the bullx class, thats like putting a spaniel in the rottweiler class. good feet and mouth but its the heart that counts, have they got that?

 

oop's i meant sunday lol

they are 1/4 bull and so far they are proving to have the heart, long way to go yet they are only 11 month old but showing promise.

i might add there was only 4 in the class :laugh:

Surely a dog has to be tested thoroughly on many different outings to be able to assess "heart"? Ok so you can see signs of it when you start working a young dog, you can spot potential and say this pup looks like its going to do the biz, but you cant tell for sure until you have ran it over and over many times to get a proper reading from the dog, its usually second or third season before you can really say this dog is 100% or this dog is totally reliable. Some dogs can start out promising and then as soon as you start to give them a bit of punishment they fall by the wayside. JMHO

Spot on, i have a 10month old that is showing commitment, potential, but would'nt go as far as saying heart though.

 

Way way way too young for that statement.
