First day out in UK

As some of you know, I have not been in the UK for 27 years and have come back here 4 weeks ago. Not knowing anyone from times gone by and not having had a lot of time I spent my bits of time that I do have on the interweb. A few days ago I signed up in another forum and wrote my intro and asked if there was a club near the area where I live now as I wanted to zero my new scope. Minutes later up comes a PM telling me that I could come to Steves permission as he is not a million miles away from where I live. So another few PM and a phone call later we met at his permission.

I turned up at his place at 12;30 with a piece of paper and a pen to put some dots on it to get the scope sorted out. I was put to shame when he opened the boot of his car and he got his target rig out, including proper targets and spoons, it looked like something straight out of Buffalo Bills wardrobe .

When the zero bit was sorted we then went for a stroll on his permission to see what was about but in the heat of the day the wabbits where more intelligent then us and kept pretty much out of sight. So we plonked our butts down in the middle of one field and had a cig and a chat for an hour or so. We must have been sticking out of the short grass like two cockroaches on a wedding cake but it was quality time spent there in the sun. Only got one bunny but it was a great day out none the same.As we sat there a stupid bunny poked its head out of the nettles so I put the cross hairs on it and was surprised how big they get here, thinking " feck me if i hit this monster in the wrong place its going to chase me up the nearest tree" . Alas the old scope had a maximum magnification of 9 and I had this one turned up yo 16 :icon_redface: and forgot about it. So when I went over to pick it up, it was no bigger then a long eared rat. It was a nice day out all the same and for the young ones of you ....... Even Yoda has his blond moments.... ;) ;)

Both of us used AA410 ( are there any other guns ?? ) Steve the classic in .177 and me my carbine in .22 flavour. But I had the advantage of having imported some dry and warm Spanish air in my scuba cylinder .

Davey it was more for the chat and a stroll over the fields then out for the bunnies as there is a dog club there on saturdays as well so the long ears kept a low profile. a nice day out all the same.
