I inherited this piece of work a few years back.I was looking for something yesterday and in at the back of the wardrobe I found this.It has sat there for many years.I had forgotten all about its existence. Its dated 1958 in ink on the right side.It was done by a master taxidermist(that how he was described to me anyway)Let me know what you think and possible value if any.

Rohu were a well known family of taxidermists and naturalists http://www.daao.org.au/main/read/6247 related too the famous victorian taxidermist Rowland Ward despite the date on the case it might be an earlier specimem. I'd get it checked out by an expert

In 1999 I recovered a Gyr Falcon in a victorian display case that someone threw in a skip while renovating their holiday cottage,

I later sold the falcon in 2001 because the wife hated it and would'nt let me put it on dispay it was bought by a company called Natural Craft Taxisermy for 425 pounds and they also paid post and packing fees of 25 pounds!

My Gyr Falcon was mounted by a company called Williams of London who also described themseves as naturalists,

If Natural Craft paid me 450 quid in 2001 what was their mark up and what would that specimen be worth now?? for your own benefit get the bird checked out!!! not checked out by a vet, he'll only confirm its dead :icon_eek::tongue2:
