oldblueeye 0
A coupe of nghts ago I managed to get out for the first carp fishing session of the season. Due to the recent warm weather me and a mate decided we'd go and see if we could catch any off the surface with floating baits. The plan was to travel light and have a mooch round the lake stalking any feeding fish, the changing wind made it difficult as it kept blowing the floating free offerings we fired out all over the place and not tight up against the features in the lake like the reed beds and under trees where the feeding carp tend to stay on this venue. The first area I tried was in the channel between the two reed beds, but we soon had to move because one of the problems of using floating baits is the ducks and geese can also see it My mate hooked one in this quiet corner of the lake but it quickly shed the hook in the thick reeds I then had a creep round the lake keeping very low and managed to find a few feeding carp under and around this big willow tree But it was my mate who caught first on two freelined dog biscuits Then it was my turn with this one then about ten minutes I landed this one, it turned out to be the biggest of the night weighing 14lb 8oz It was built like a breeze block I then just managed one more before we lost the light. A real old warrior that wore the scars of a few seasons spawning activity (the fish not me :roll1: ) A good nights sport in good surroundings with a good mate...life doesn't get any better.
