Bosun11 537
Some very nice dogs there. Just one question, why did the reserve champ require a 'handler'
goran 4
Some very nice dogs there. Just one question, why did the reserve champ require a 'handler' As I was the photographer it was a bit difficult to handle my own dog, had a different 'handler' for my other dog. I have always photographed the 2 New Forest Shows, With 3 rings being judged, I have to forgo showing my own dogs, but believe credit should be given to person handling the dog. No other motive !! JPTfellterrier 65
great photos, lovley dogs but i dont understand lurcher shows for example in a bitch under 25" class there could be a colliex, a bullx,deerhoundx,salukix....pretty much any cross....so isnt it down to personal prefrance? and does the dogs looks affect its work? goran 4
great photos, lovley dogs but i dont understand lurcher shows for example in a bitch under 25" class there could be a colliex, a bullx,deerhoundx,salukix....pretty much any cross....so isnt it down to personal prefrance? and does the dogs looks affect its work? This is a good question & I'm sure everybody will have their own strong opionions, I have judged for many years, & yes if I am truthful there are certain crosses that I prefer- HOWEVER what ever type I judge, in my mind I ask myself, would this type of dog take the quarry that it specialises in & if so, is it in tip top condition , & go from there, as regards does the dogs looks affect it's work, of course not, but saying this they still have to be fit, have no lameness etc , & be in good physical condition - but unfortunately there are alot of judges out there who would not agree with me. There is no standard for judging lurchers, but matching the cross to the type of quarry it can take is a starting point......Comparing them with athletes is a thought as well, is it a sprinter or a shot putter ?? But whatever they still have to be in peak pysical condition....
