novice 25
Can anyone tell me if the optilock range of scope mounts bolt directly to the rifle action, or simply rely on the grip afforded by the bases to the scope rail? I've had a look at some images and can't decide either way. I'm reluctant to shell out so much on a system that might not be 100% solid. Novice Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
A cup head allen bolt tighten on the side of the base and locks into the dovetail groove on the action...... once you've got the base where you need it before you tighten it apply a little super glue to the inside of he head and tighten, this will keep the bolt from working loose on the base......... check out this pic for an underside view of the base...... http://www.sako.fi/optilockproducts.php?basesrings Snap. Mr Adventure 0
Optilock rings are the same for a Sako and Tikka but the bases are totaly different. Tikka bases are sraight and the Sako are dovetailed. I can assure you that the quality and reliability are superb. I have them on my Tikka and Sako. You can also get rings that do not need bases. just look at the Sako or Tikka web site. Quote Link to post

Whilst I concede my Oplilock have not let me down, after buying a set for my .223 I would never buy another set, they are seriously over priced and over rated!!!... £23 worth of Sportsmatch on my .243 Hunter are equally as good!!http://www.sportsmatch-uk.com/specification.html Quote Link to post
