quicksilver 0
does anyone shoot the leupold boone and crockett reticle, i like the idea of graded reticle but for me the varmint hunter reticle is a little too fine ( i have only fired a few shots from a rifle fitted with one and may get used to it with a little more use), the boone and crockett looks a more heavier and may suit me better. thanks keith Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
I do. it works I prefer the Varmint hunter ret, but got the B & C at a good price and it does the job. Quote Link to post
quicksilver 0
do you find it too heavy for smaller game Rabbits and fox keith Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
No, not at all. It's on my 22 Hornet, shooting foxes, rabbits and anything else I can find tbh, it's pretty good on that calibre - I wouldn't want to shoot bunnies at 300 yards with it or anything, but out to the 200 of Hornet, it's great. I suspect this is the one I know quite well...I'm personally not a great fan ...that's the reason I moved this scope on...but being honest, it didn't work for me...that's not to say it isn't any good!! Quite popular in the USA I understand.. Quote Link to post
endasmail 0
have the varmint hunter recticle on my leupold ,have taken rabbits at 250 yards ,i find it handy once ya get used to it Quote Link to post
quicksilver 0
i got to borrow a varmint hunter for a week or so, i may give it a go tonight at the rabbits just to see how it suits me. I was looking at the 8x56 benders etc great scope clear as a bell but to get the reticle i want and the variable power then you start to get into real £££ and i am not sure that the extra quality would be worth it for hunting rabbits and foxes. does anyone have a good condition leupold with the varmint hunter ret for sale ?, thanks keith Quote Link to post
quicksilver 0
tried the 4.5-14 x 40 leupold with varmint hunter reticle last night and really liked it. we had a quick walk around before dark and the scope was fine in good - fading light and after dark we lamped for an hour or so. Even with the 40mm lens the light gathered was good. saying that the furthest rabbit taken with the lamp was about 60m but i am pleased with the scope. i will have a look out now for one. keith Quote Link to post
