  1. 1. If you had to choose between the two, in whatever calibre, which would you pick- Blaser R93 or the Sauer 202 (Both in synthetic)

Just wonderin' guys (and gals!) ;) , another completely hypothetical thang.... if you could/had to choose, which rifle would you go for... the Sauer 202 or the Blaser R93- both wearing synthetic stocks-

Sauer - coated steel reciever & barrel

- traditional turn bolt design

- slower calibre change + loss of zero

- drilled and tapped receiver- use whatever mounts you like!

Blaser- lighter?

- "unconventional" straight pull

- non-coated steel parts

- fast barrel change and no loss of zero (Using different scopes attached to the barrels)

-dedicated (read expensive) mounts

Tricky thing..... I reckon I'd choose the Sauer (just for the looks and conventionalism)in .308 with a .375 H&H barrel.... just because I can :clapper:

I reckon also that I'd try and turn the bolt handle of the Blaser as it just feels like another rifle, though I'm sure it's something you'd get used to.

Well, I've voted Sauer through brand loyalty..I have a classsic 202 in synthetic clothes .243.

But I have never shot a blaser..I have heard good things about them though.

Also, I never change barrels, and to be honest wouldn't.

Hmmm I gotta say I'm surprised at the poll results so far.... perhaps the Sauer owners are all asleep! (save for the dedicated souls above ;) ) wellll the Blaser is a nice rifle, Great lines, but it's just the straight pull that I reckon would be hard to get used to.... plus if ya ever needed to than the locking mechanism, I reckon it would be a b*tch to do!- all those fiddly petal bits..... piiiiiing ....bugger..... better get on the phone to Blaser and order a new bolt head......

Oh just another thing.... Sauer owners... what have you found the accuracy of your rifles to be like? reading a review of the Sauer @ http://gunmart.net/gun_review/sauer_202_classic_synthetic/ he say's the accuracy is about 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch groups.... what do you rifles do? plus what do you feed them?

Not quite sure what you intended to write here. However the Blaser bolt is a very simple bolt to strip for cleaning and as for the pull action, one gets used to it very quickly and would soon see the benefits of this type of action.

I have had two Blasers for nearly 10 years - off road in 6.5 x 55 and a Luxus in 22.250 - or if needed they could be the other way around!!

I have three other conventional bolt action rifles and never get confused between them and the Blasers

I meant that if you ever wanted to strip the bolt head- ie the metal "petals" in a collar that lock up inside the barrel... how many rounds does the blaser hold? 3? three's gotta be enough in anyones book, at least for stalking, one should be enough----- aah ruger No1 in .45-70.....

what kind of accuracy do you get out of you blaser, I understand it is very good....

Group of .59 inch. The wayward one was me - had this one joined the others group would have been .276 inch - always the same - last one puts you under pressure!!
